England v Mexico [Merged]

Unless of course he's going with the 'Weapon X' angle, having seen enough of AJ in training? 23 players certainly weren't used tonight.

I also wonder about Barry's fitness. If GB's tests weren't looking good today then it's probable that Capello would want a good look at his defensive midfield options including Carrick, Huddlestone and Milner (all of whom 'featured' tonight), prioritising this above the wingers.

Scot Parker is the best option in that squad to replace Barry in the team if he doesnt make the squad. Will win a lot of ball and keep it simple I think he is a under rated player at international level and if he was in a team in the top half of the table he would of started tonight ahead of Carrick.

We are going to be torn to pieces if we play like that in the world cup.

Any technical team we face is going to tear us a new one.

I Think it's a fairly unfair reflection of how we will play in the world cup to be honest. No Terry, Cole and lampard, all excellent players and Carrick and Walcott getting 70 mins in a game should be unlikely in the world cup, so there will be changes.

Hart,

Johnson, Ferdinand, Terry, Cole,

Lennon, Barry/Milner, Gerrard, Lampard, Johnson

Rooney.

That team on its day will give anyone a run for its money, with crouch and defoe to provide something different too.

I think people need to take a step back and look at the team that played tonight, and then look at the squad we have. I'd be amazed if that is how we line up in the WC. Baines? No. Cole. King, probably not. Carrick? after his performance tonight, no chance. Walcott will go for some god only known reason.

I know it is Englands last home match before the World Cup but why didnt Capello look at his fringe players. I would of thought Carragher , Dawson , Jono , Warnock , Parker and Huddlestone would of played from the start and a fit Bent. He knows what he is going to get from the rest of that squad but the others maybe not.

With regards to Bent, I read earlier today that he was ruled out of tonight's match with a hamstring injury.

I read this also.

A typical result under Capello, we did the job against inferior opposition but looked shaky at the back. 3-1was a widely predicted result, though A better team would have punished us at the back. The only hope is that Cole and Terry returning will tighten things up
