I think Southgate is trying to play a style of football, that we don't have the players for.
For a start, we need some players that can control and pass the football, to a decent level.
Think he needs to get the youngsters in, ASAP.

As I see it. He's swamped the midfield, attempted to press high and counter. That's not a style of play that necessarily relies upon subtedly of technique or ball retention. It's Leicesters champion winning team in white shirts. That's all on Southgate irrespective of personnel he doesn't have to set up the team to play with so much caution.
