England v Sri Lanka ODI decider

What a ball from Dernbach. Malinga clean bowled, taste of his own. Top finish, England win by 16 runs and take the series 3-2. Nice.

Last I looked, Matthews and Mendis looked to be taking the game away from England and I thought our hopes were going away very fast. Considering they were 232-5 at one point, it really was a brilliant comeback from England.

Should have got more with the bat, Bell, Bresnan, Swann, Patel - all dissapointing. Not enough boundaries either but to be fair, Trott and Morgan were brilliant and keeping taking singles. It has turned out that that partnership at the end between Anderson and Dernbach won us the game!

Watch out in the future for a young south African calld Obus Pienaar, he has been playing for my ocal club this season but has been called up for the SA development squad and leaves next weekend, an absolutely brilliant middle order batsman, and a genuine good lad as well. Only a matter of time before he is called up into the SA test and ODI squad.
He has already broken records galore here and puts at least 100 on the gate wherever he plays (not bad in a barren cricket land such as ireland)

went, thought we should have comfortably made 320 with that start, only one of our wickets(Kieswetter) was really anything other than silly batting/running.

We kept taking wickets to keep them below the rate and they had to hit out and subsequently lost the game.

How much was it to go?

think mine was £50, very expensive, too expensive imo as normal folk will struggle to go, not full by any means, was a fun day though everyone was getting giddy on 4 packs of beer.

can see easily why it isn't a test venue though, but lovely weather, competitive game and lots of beer=success.

Just been on the ECB site and seen that there are to be 13 ODI's in England next year, I organised a club trip toDurham for the Aussies game a few years ago, and we are thinking of attending a game next year, anyone know when the dates for these games are being releases, as we would prefer a game on a Thursday either in Salford -trafford, Leeds or Durham, so that we can travel over on the Wednesday afternoon and home on the friday so that we can still play that saturday.
(ideally the real old trafford as it means a wider range of flights available, or if too dear then the belfast Birkenhead ferry, & I can book the rest of them into the international while I go to th Mitre)

Nothing's been totally confirmed regarding dates but Headingley apparently has a South Africa test match and a West Indies ODI and Old Trafford apparently has a South Africa T20.
