England v Uruguay

Is lallana injured or did he tell Liverpool to fuck off?
Don't understand how after a good season and having played well in England friendlies he is not playing when we are crying out for some skill.

On the bright side this could be the end of Woy and Rooney's England careers.

It will be the same whoever takes over from Woy.

Until we have another world class talent come to the forefront we will be stuck with Rooney. Our commercialism demands a figurehead that can be sold to the masses.

I'm still struggling to understand how the manager picked the same team that LOST the last game but changed one of the most effective players to a peripheral position.

Because Danny Wellbeck can lose the ball 10 times a half which is a skill England rely on.

Gerrard has become a bit of a liability.
Several of the players there, ie Wellbeck just aren't good enough and really is a sad state of English football if that's the best we can offer.

They only themselves to blame. We've gone for quality over quantity in the premiership. We've sacrificed trying to develop English players over bringing in top quality foreign players to the game.
No more evident that there is only one current premier league champion on the pitch in Hart.

A team like Australia can run Holland close, as a team of average players, playing united as a team, no stars. Why? Because there's very little pressure on them.
England can either accept that they are an average team shooting above their weight, get the whole country behind them, or they can continue to go on believing that they're a better team than they really are, crumble under the pressure and have everyone go on criticising and putting an incredible amount of pressure on the likes of Rooney, doing their best to single him out as a failure.

Uruguay are surrounding, isolating and just closing down Rooney as they know he's probably the only player who can create, and he's only guy being man marked. Yet England go on over relying on him. He needs help, but so many players around him are just average.

England aren't hungry, they seem unsure of what they're doing on the ball, Henderson, Welbeck etc. are just lost on the pitch. Uruguay have a game plan, England don't.
While the likes of Gerrard, Henderson and Welbeck on the pitch they really don't have much chance.
Right now it looks like if England score it'll be from a set piece, but what England need to do is play like a united front, and just run the players down and work hard.
Right now, they don't look like they want it.
What England are missing are a type of Roy Keane (wash my mouth out) type of player in the middle of the park, is that type of determination on the park? No. On the bench? Maybe, will the management be brave enough to make that call.
