England World Cup 2026 Squad | Trafford, Stones, Guehi & Nico in

Incredibly uninspiring selection. How is Henderson getting in ahead of Wharton? How is mainoo in ahead of Wharton? Where's Lewis hall? Djed spence ahead of him a laughable. I'd even have slabhead in ahead of Quansah who is championship level at best. Taking 3 strikers is a complete waste. Madueke ahead of Bowen is disgraceful. Eze has been dogshit all season, MGW deserves to be in there far more than him or even Rogers who villa fans have wanted out of the side for months (but I accept he has money in the bank for England).

Just a terrible squad, it's almost impossible not to make the knockouts with the new format but expect us to get beaten in a very dull game by the first decent side we face unless we can Arsenal our way through by completely relying on set pieces and that's a style I have zero interest in watching.

I don’t know if anyone has looked at the BBC’s squad guide, but Ivan Toney looks remarkably like Jared Bowen. Haha.

This is a very ordinary German-like squad. Players that could make a difference have been left out. Some very old players in there. Are we really that short on talent, or is Tuchel sabotaging our chances?

On comparison, I'd prefer the English squad to our German,
and Tuchel to Nagelsmann.

Tuchel is a weird guy and I don't fancy his boring style, but it's effective.

Nagelsmann is a clown though and we're lucky with the new 48 team format to get out of the group this time, after 2 WC fukc-ups...

England will go deeper than us Huns surely. Difficult to beat. I've said since many years I'd like to see a German manager for England, with a different mindset and philosophy going all out for the World Cup. As I usually like to be correct you should be prepared
for a long tournament... ;)

1966 -> 2026 about time after 60 years and a nice idea on top that
Good Old England be crowned on American soil. Football not soccer.

Not a particularly inspiring squad. Perhaps in the period between England’s exit and the new domestic season starting, journalists might find time to start questioning why the League has been allowed to become overly physical and whether that has become detrimental to the development of technique. Lions led played by donkeys…

Fair team.

Goalkeepers good.

Defenders: I'd take Spence out for Luke Shaw and Cohlwill for Quansah.

We don't need 2 experienced backups. So John Stones is fine. It was either Slabhead or Stones. Never both.

Midfield: Wharton over Henderson , MGW in over Toney

Attack: Palmer over Madueke.

That would have been a better squad. Wharton, Exe and Palmer being your magic off 5he bench.

Pep changed English football, gave us a new identity to breed brilliant technical players and see them flourish in their home league and we entrusted them internationally to a clueless waistcoat yes man who fell into the job because he was a nice guy and a very prudent, cautious German. Nice one FA.

Initially I was angry because I've heard he left out Phil but now that I saw the full list of exclusions, he also left out: Palmer, Gibbs-White, Wharton, Alexander-Arnold and Hall.. now I'm simply laughing, like seriously what is this bum doing?

Great post. All players with flair have been left out. Worse than Southgate.

Amusing post pal.

Looks like both England and Germany have gone for the functional rather than risky flair players.
Good luck to Germany.

This is spot-on. English football has turned into rugby in the last few years. Skill is out of fashion in favour of muscle-bound robots. Arsenal are the ugly face of what has happened. England will be destroyed at the WC. A total laughing stock.
