Eni Aluko

So, the full story doesn't appear to be anything like as dramatic. Someone else asked her about Ian Wright, and she said some very nice things about him, while making some fairly uncontroversial points about women pundits.

I listened to it. She was fairly ungracious even in the context of the question. I thought anyway.

I understand the media jump on the bandwagon, but I don't think this was one of them.

Just wish she would be quiet a bit more.

The Guardian.

Really don't like her one bit. She obviously feels like she's been disadvantaged in her own experiences, and has now let it eat away at her until she has become all that she had preached against.

The comments she made about city helping to push up Declan Rice's fee because arteta knew Pep, and that it was a tactic she had herself partaken in several times, was both bizarre and potentially anti competitive behaviour, serious allegations that she should have been pulled up on and investigated for.

But I suspect that most people just looked at her and thought what's the point, she'll cause trouble over anything and clearly doesn't know anything about football anyway.

So to answer the original question, yes. Yes, I strongly believe she is damaging not just the women's game, but the men's too. She makes it not about football, and I strongly suspect this is because she's both unentertaining and clueless when it comes to football itself.

As a tonic to her hatred and suspicion, just tune in to Izzy Christiansen for five minutes. Also a female, which isn't actually something made to be relevant or important, and actually engaging and knowledgeable, which should be celebrated.

Alkuo herself is blocking opportunities for others in football by championing non football topics to justify herself, rather than talking about football. Without judging her past situations and experiences, I'd be happy to not have her punditry on offer on the future, and hope she finds some kind of content in another future career.

Says sorry to Wright my god she really is fooking clueless .............no wonder the likes of Barton goes after her with her brain dead comments.

Putting my misogynist hat on I don't want to listen to women ex players chatting about the men's game, stick to the women's version. That Aluko is a nasty piece of work btw.

Emma Hayes was hands down the best pundit at Euro 21. She was so good.

Not sure why your so proud of your misogynist hat - you look like a twat in it.

Ian Wright has said he refuses to accept her apology and wants to draw a line under it. Good on him, she went for him for no reason and only retracted and apologised after a backlash, he shouldn't accept it.

I dont think shes harming the womens game, for that to be true, people would have to value her voice. shes just an ex player in the limelight for saying stypid things and playing the victim, she is no more a represntative of the womens game as joey barton is of the mens.

She doesn't get work because she's fucking shit at it, there's nothing more to it. Now granted, theres other shit pundits/presenters that do still get work, both women like Alex "actually" scott, and men like spitty carragher amongst a sea of others but that doesnt entitle others to the same opportunities. there's plenty of decent, articulate women pundits in either the womens game or men's that are doing fine. Izzy Christensen is a good pundit getting work on both sides as an example.

Considering she's an intelligent lady (qualified solicitor/lawyer, I think?), she doesn't half come out with some shite.
Not sure she is an intelligent lady, she just had private education to aide her. I've not seen a single hint of genuine intelligence from her. She says some of the most stupid shit to come out of a pundits mouth and this is a profession where Martin Keown works.

They were 12 points clear with a game in hand on 18th January, Stoke recalled Nathan Lowe on the 11th Jan after selling Tom cannon to Sheffield United and it all fell to pieces:

she shouldnt be anywhere any pundit job someone put up a gaff of here fails on TV and in a nutshell its fooking shocking

The only harm she’s doing is to herself. I assume she has an agent/publicist? They should be getting a grip of her and telling her to wind her neck in. She’s almost on Barton levels for being a knobhead at the moment.

Gobs it off about a male pundit and then storms out of the building, wonder if she'll admit it's her fault or try to throw someone else under the bus like she usually does :)

No fan of Wright, but I suspect she'll deflect to an easier target to grift on now.

The lady comes across as a narcissist with a mix of victim complex.

Tried to sue the FA when they wouldn't pick her for England.

Blamed others when she failed as a tory candidate.

Now targeting Wright for he lack of work offers.
Sounds like the new Dwight Yorke.

You saying she has history?

She has had a nightmare and she should take herself away from the limelight for a while and think about her own actions which have led to all this tbh.

I don’t know her and I wish her no harm but the articles I’ve seen her write are frankly appalling and she seems to struggle with self awareness.

i think she has a point about other pundits - not just Ian Wright so don’t know why she singled him out.
I recall each pundit was on just one channel and one channel only.
Now a handful amount of them pop up on lots of different channels - so that limits other wanna be punters from getting the gig. I guess this is her beef as her work has dried up.
The question is, has it dried up because of limited opportunities or because she is a shite pundit?

Definitely the latter
