Enjoying the season

It was great watching the Rodri cameo at Sunderland. That’s the level we have been missing in midfield. Nico alongside Rodri would be unbreakable against the big teams I think. I hope Rodri can come back fully.

I know it's not the thread but since several of the last few posts have draw attention to him: the thing I notice with Rod is he always seems to have time. I'd say nine times out of ten he knows who he's going to pass the ball to before he gets it himself. He quietly made one or two exquisite passes, and otherwise just kept City's momentum ticking over. Now I rate Nico G, and he's done an admirable job deputising, but sorry, he's just not an even vaguely comparable level.

And oh yes, I'm enjoying this season very much. I didn't honestly expect us to be challenging for the title, I felt it was a bit too early for this team. We're well placed in the CL, semi-final of the League Cup, and still very much in the argument for the PL. Think of us about thirteen months ago…

I’m just amazed Pep has turned us into contenders again this quickly considering how wrecked we looked last season. Actually enjoying this season more than I have in many a season. It seems less stressful as the underdog, and it still feels like we could win a trophy or two. I’m pretty excited about next season and how we might look then once everyone has jelled and there’s a couple of quality new faces.
That's a very good point , some of our previous squad a season too far , Gundo and Kev , now looking at Stones Ake and Bernie all legends but legs have gone, I thought this year would be a transition season and pleasantly surprised how quickly some have gelled,

We have missed Rodri so much. He is the man who links defence with attack. He runs the whole show. Nico is more like Gareth Barry. He mops things up and keeps possession. I think they can play together. Which would be fantastic in those big European games agaist counter-attacking teams. The second half of this season is going to be a brilliant watch.

Apart from the centurions season, we've always come from behind to win the league title.
I had a chat with a friend just before the Sunderland game that I won't mind a draw. That would keep Arsenal on top for now while we keep up the pursuit.
Pep has been written off so many times in the past but he always often has the last laugh.
I am hoping that this season will follow a similar pattern.

All the pressure remains on Arsenal and they make matters worse for themselves thanks to their hysterical social media followers and their deluded pals in the London media. We can play with freedom this season in all competitions. We have nothing to prove to anyone. I can't wait.

Good post, Lovebites.

I'm just happy we have gone back to a more centurions style football.

Loved seeing us win the lot at the start of this decade but personally I was getting bored with the football.

Whilst that team was not on paper as successful as the 2021-2024 team, that centurions team was the best football I have seen being played at City.

Glad we've gone sort of back to it.

Is it pep, or is it just better players and less injuries and Haaland having a worldie first 15 games?

Of course it’s Pep! He is the greatest manager the game has ever seen. Where the fuck is all the Pep doubting coming from in our fanbase.

Honestly blows my mind!

Iv been having the time of my life last 10 years especially.

I sort of feel sorry for all those City fans that didn't go through the dark times. They would be able to take the odd defeat or not winning the PL a lot easier.
I feel sorry for the super blues who don't even go.

Yes.

Start of season I predicted another top 4 battle so to be within 7pts and a game in hand of top spot & currently 11 clear of 5th its been pretty good.

Champions League has gone ok as well.

A 2 legged LC semi final on the horizon plus the start of the FA Cup in which we have a brilliant home tie against Exeter.

A season of bedding in new players Donnarumma, Reijnders & Cherki as well as improvements in Nico G, Doku & Nunes. Hopefully more to come from Khusanov, Ait-Nouri, Marmoush & Savinho as well as some youngsters hanging around the squad.

Rodri coming back, Semenyo coming in and another 2/3 in the summer and we're back baby :-)

Let's finish the season strong with a trophy or two.

Unlike the red top scum, I feel fuckin delighted by our recent success, not entitled to it .. If it all ended today I would still be beaming like a Cheshire fuckin Cat on steroids.
This is what sets us apart from the arse, rags and dippers..
We are City despite our success, not because of it ..
ps. I’m in Southern Thailand at the moment and a little bit nostalgic and with a few Chang under me belt… CTID as it says on the tin..
