After watching some videos and interviews with Enzo Maresca, I’m honestly not that concerned. It’s basically going to be Pep light, which is still a hell of a lot better than Pep nothing. The guy is clearly tactics obsessed and I think he has a very high football IQ. Whether he can fully control a locker room the way Pep does is probably still TBD, but from a pure football standpoint, I think he absolutely gets it.
I think what scares people is just how small the body of work is. You basically have the Leicester season where they won the Championship and then the Chelsea stint, which ended kind of oddly, but honestly I almost give anyone a pass for what Chelsea has become under that ownership structure. It’s chaos.
One thing that did stand out to me though was the Club World Cup final. I thought he genuinely outcoached Enrique, and that’s not nothing.
I’m honestly excited to see what he can do at a club where everybody is aligned with the same vision and the same goals instead of walking into the circus environment Chelsea has had the last few years.
That's because Pep is an unbelievable man manager. Look at Jack Gaughans stories on him on X. Other managers may have familiar tactical knowledge as Pep, but being a football manager is more than just tactics.The Bayern defence is poor though, so I'm not sure that's just on Kompany. But I think with the Bundesliga being so easy for them we need to see him prove himself in Europe to be confident he can cope. It's also concerned me that when he made changes in the league, ahead of CL ties they were appalling and he had to bring on his best players to rescue games.
The difference between Pep and pretty much everyone else out there is his ability to make changes without standards and performances dropping. Even Arsenal with their "greatest squad ever assembled" are shocking if Arteta makes a few changes and he's often had to play Rice and Saka in the league cup to get them through rounds.

Never really looked that closely at Maresca so did a search and found this, interesting and could see players like Cherki,Nunes,flourishing in the Palmer, Cucurella roles and maybe Trafford too might reconsider staying.The whole suqad though seems very well suited to his tactics.
It is really exciting times for us. I know Pep is a god to us, but its been a decade and he has to move on eventually.Hopefully Rodri and Ruben stay to ease the new era in. It will be interesting to see if he can get a tune out of Reindeers, Gonzales and Savio, if they stay.

It just governs the payoff if you get sacked.It occurs to me that — if there is any truth to the rumour that Maresca is coming, and that he will sign a three-year contract in the first instance — that takes us very exactly up to the summer of 2029, when Vin's contract with Bayern comes to its term.

Hopefully Maresca surpasses expectations and we don't have to rely on Vinnie in a few years time.
