Enzo Maresca

Few in here a while back were saying he likes keeper to play our from the back a lot and tried to sign trafford when at chelsea.
Could be the end of donarumma

I like Donna as a presence and he seems a really nice guy but ultimately I agree and we need to back Trafford, even if it means shaking hands with Donna and wishing him the best.

Don’t know if it’s been mentioned in here, but I’m not going back and reading 18 pages to find it. Apologies if so.

I distinctly remember Maresca being credited for the John Stones role in our treble season. Apparently he played a key part in suggesting Pep use Stones in a midfield role when in transition to sort out the balance in midfield. We all know how that worked out.

I for one will obviously be gutted if and when Pep leaves. But if we have a new man coming in he needs all the support we can give him, especially if he’s previously played a role in the football we’ve watched under the legend that is Guardiola.

Impossible to know, because the same could be said for Pep, but if I was Trafford I'd at least wait until I'd had a conversation with him.

Utterly pathetic from a blue. If you hadn't posted so many times previously I'd be seriously questioning your allegiances. It almost makes it worse that you would spout such shite as a long standing fan. I guess it's the power of social media mentality that is brainwashing people everywhere into coining pathetic phrase like that.
Lighten up flower.

I don't really get why people so badly want Vinnie over Maresca. Obvious sentiment aside.

Enrique, sure, more tested and proven. Vinnie? Hardly so. His appointment by Bayern raises more eyebrows than Maresca’s with us imo. Neither stands out as particularly immediately obviously worthy of the role of that magnitude.
Has anyone seen how Bayern defend? Just asking...

I love Big Don, but if you're talking about letting a talent like Trafford leave, I think you have to let Big Don go.

Based on how he managed previously this is the theoretical type of lineup he might play with our players (and Anderson) slotted in, just to give a vague idea what we maybe can expect. Not to say this is how he will do it if he joins as managers change and adapt with time and available players but more just for fun.

As a few have mentioned the GK was quite critical in playing out from the back with this tactic, moving up into almost a second CB position (that this graphic cant show as GK is fixed!), which would have been perfect for Ederson but less so for Donna. Trafford could be favoured under those circumstances if that is still an important role.

I think it also shows how important the CM positions are to reinforce if we were to play this way but its all just guessing so who knows what will really happen.

Have a look at my earlier post replying to a couple of blues whom I replied to about this earlier in the thread.

As an old blue, my gallows humour is in me. Younger ones won't get it as they've been lucky enough to see the best we could ever be, and some might not accept a drop in success. Pep has spoiled us all, and I will still be here even if we go back to being shit city.

It's quite possible that he has been a long term project all along, brought in to the U23 set up to learn the club, being an assistant, allowed to go Leicester to learn more, where he did well enough to ping chelsea interest to give him a go, but City have always been talking to him thoughout it all.
I think it is exactly this. I cannot understand why people are doubting him. He got Leicester promoted, and in one full season at Chelsea, got them back in the Champions League, won the Europa Conference, and then won the Club World Cup. All at a club buying and selling players like confetti, and run by a consortium that are to be generous, shambolic. I’m not sure what more he could have done. He has more than earned a go at the City job in my view, if Pep is leaving.

Are you playing a back 5?

Or is this a treble system where Nico G/Rodri are a false CB who enters the midfield like Stones did?

Otherwise I don't understand the offball shape.

If you believe certain people then Maresca has been the number one replacement for Pep for a long time so surely we weren't mental enough to go and sign Donna for a big fee and contract knowing full well the next man in doesnt want him.

Maybe it was always expected Donna would be here for a couple years to finish out pep's contract, try win another CL etc.

I dont think we would struggle to sell him but still.

From what I’ve seen 2 full backs joining the midfield is more his thing than 3 centre backs

Albeit nice, no way in hell he lines up with a back 3 out of possession.

His way better than Trafford is at this stage.

Perfect player for this new system- Our new number 7 that reminds me of a certain number 7 that plays for PSG

Pep is the reason other teams try to do the same and he prefers Donnaruma. Don’t think that is going to change with a new manager at the helm.
