Enzo Maresca

I think City will act quickly in naming the new manager. It could be by tomorrow or before Friday
If it's Maresca, then we all have to back the board's choice and get right behind him

One thing I hope is that we sort out the full-backs and get proper full-backs and build a solid back 4 or 5
Has Nunes not become a proper fullback then ?

Unfortunately anything less than the league and the cup in his first season, and the pressure will ramp up, mostly from external sources and impatient fans, regardless of how good the football is or not. I'm not sure how realistic it is to expect that in a first season, and but there is an expectation here at this club to compete.

Whoever comes in will be made to understand that, we are capable of the title technically and physically, the league was imo pretty poor this past season, and I see no evidence that arsenal are about to create some kind of legacy - lowest number of goals scored by the champions since Leicester, and just a rule change away from having 40-50% of their expected goals disallowed.

Pellegrini got the league in his first season in England and was universally ignored for the success by most of the media. Whilst us as fans and the club will give whoever it is the time to build and create that team and not expect everything at once, barring a finish outside of the European places which I feel would lead to a dismissal, there has to be a push for silverware immediately also.
For me personally I disagree on the first part.

Its not about the winning trophies (especially cups- you need a bit of luck for that for starters) - but its about how we play, the style in which we play.....Pep brought us attractive, beautiful football and this is what I want to see continue. Slott in his first year took what Klopp did and went with it...won the league.....second year ripped it all up and went for a new way (ironically trying to copy Pep more) and it failed badly.

I want to see our style of play continue with advancement to use physical and techincal players.....NOR being an example of a player that embodies both aspects whereas Semenyo has the physical but not the technical and RAN the opposite....we need players that can do both...Look at Khusonovs improvement in his passing in only a few months.....players can be improved on the basics even at this level. Haaland has improved his pressing and assists - it can be done and this is what is now needed.

Vianna/Maresca needs to be clever - for me there have been a few dodgy transfers - some great - others not so....and Vianna/Maresca need to get allignment in this and get it right and this is the part that is essential - what everything relies on - our next few incoming transfers....both as players on the pitch and off it (which is why i dont personally like the idea of signing Enzo Fernandes - he has already proved he is a problem in the dressing room and we dont want that....Maresca bought him in once and that means to me his judge of character is off...that needs to be reigned in by Vianna and the other board members...this plus the quality of player is absolutely necesary....we need some proven quality in there - no more Savios please!

We're just a bit lob sided at full back, stacked on the left with options, Josko, Nico and RAN but on the right just Nunes as I think Rico will be off, he needs games ! maybe 100 to become Kimmich like...
We definitely need a proper RB to keep Nunes on his toes. Lewis needs moving on for his own good.

Yea and a club that has been built over the last 10 seasons by Pep. That legacy is what will stand us apart. Players love all that istory -:)

Khaldoon has been at the helm now for a long time. We know who we are as a club and how to win. The structure is in place for the right person to succeed.

Komps isn’t right for now. Heart over head. You can’t expect him to follow pep. He is on his own road back to us.

It’s gonna be bumpy and fun hopefully. I always try to stay sensible with expectations but once the game kicks off that goes out the window lol. Il probably want Komps like your lad after a few defeats -:)

haha Yep, football does funny things to fans

Look at Pep's first season, I don't think any new manager would last that first season Pep had

Interesting to see who his team will be. It's pretty much a clearout of the backroom staff. Wouldn't seem to be any real connection to the winning mentality of the past ten years apart from Rods/Ruben and other players.

New relationships to be formed with staff, medical and stats as well as cooks, groundsmen etc.

With him being here before, these relationships will have already been built, a case of seeing an old friend return. He knows the club. His coaching team might need some "bedding in" but that can be led by him.

The more I think about it the more it makes sense.

I wonder when Maresco will be announced, and whether new player signings are already lined up? As much as I love the World Cup it always limits opportunities to sign new players. Best to sign early to avoid transfer fees increasing due to potential performances on the world stage.

It's got to be this week
I think he is already working in the background and City is sorting out compo at Chelsea's end

New signings normally happen before the World Cup, but I feel it's now a bit too late to get everybody on board
It's going to be a crazy World Cup and summer with it being 4 weeks and little pre-season for clubs and players
