damage limitation for him, you are joking, his reputation his shot, paying someone a substantial amount to someone he has never met ?

damming for him ?? reputation his shot
give over.. its well know for years what he was like randy andy nicked named by the press and we all laughed and nobody gives a shit ?

the royals are untouchable and even this week they changed rules for camilla to be queen even though the rule about being king should be not be divorced and remarried in church

The BBC correspondents take on it is interesting.

The deal struck between Prince Andrew and Virginia Giuffre means averting the royal disaster zone of a court battle in New York in the autumn.
Even though the amounts are not being disclosed, this will come at a very significant financial cost to the prince.
But there is also the reputational cost. Prince Andrew, whose legal team had been attacking Ms Giuffre's claims, has signed up to a statement acknowledging her as a "victim of abuse" and commending her "bravery".
The deal avoids any suggestion of Prince Andrew being personally involved in wrongdoing, but it also says nothing about removing the accusations that Ms Giuffre made against him.

It means this damaging civil court case is over and the jubilee year won't be clouded by damaging headlines.
But Prince Andrew has ended up paying up and expressing regret, rather than clearing his name.

It seems to me that what he has acknowledged essentially is that he was there, but maintained that he didn't know at the time what the Epstein gang was up to.

The latter part might have been difficult to prove.

He couldnt even with stand the matlis interview, he would have had no chance of hours under oath by a cut throat barrister, he caved imo, also by doing this he lets the queen have her jubilee celebrations in peace

Attorney or lawyer is fine Kaz. The American legal profession isn't split like the UK, no solicitors or barristers.

so if your a multi billionaire its ok to do whatever you like because you can pay your way out of trouble ?
like i said this is sending out the wrong message to the victims and for them to come forward.
today she has let down and the charity by taking the money ? its now ok to pay your way out of trouble

you might as well close the charity down because its saying ITS OK to be a victim here is your pay out ?
why settle out of court ? i don't under stand it. the whole case was about making stand against the crime
bringing justice to the victims and having the accused found guilty

It isn't her job, as a victim, to reform a system that sees the vast majority of sex criminals walk away scot free. It's entirely feasible to me that someone carrying the trauma of being pimped out as some kind of sex toy when they were still a kid, to some of the most powerful men on earth, might choose to walk away from a court case with a huge pay off and get on with life when faced with a system that is stacked against the victims at the best of times. I'm disappointed that the perpetrators of this abuse haven't been held to account but that's on them, not on her.

Given Jeffrey Epstein ended up dead in his prison cell, there's plenty of reason for her to feel unsafe and in fear for her own well being and that of people close to her.

There are plenty of other people in positions of power who hold information that could take a stand and see those responsible brought to justice. Ghislaine Maxwell is currently in prison and yet the men she helped abuse countless girls are still walking free. I wouldn't have much faith in the legal system if I were Giuffre so i fully get why at this point she might be deciding to secure the best outcome for herself.
