While I definitely don't disagree. :) I think this time they are, partly because of what you've just implied, simply skint hence the lowballing. Anyway, fuck 'em.
 
Happy to keep him he could eat up signing a new deal, I don't think he is the best too weak pep rates him. And can see Barca panic signing a CB in January if we refuse to sell leaving him in a sticky situation he knows pep will give him chances here.

Its hard to know Peps and the clubs thinking.
Now that we have Ake and Dias in it relieves some of the pressure on Laporte and will give him more rest.
I'm sure we could do without both Stones and Garcia next season and bring in one or both of the current youth centre backs as cover. I am assuming that we won't see much of Fernandinho back r there anymore. Walker and Rodri could play there if we are really stuck.

There is only one destination for him, he is going to be playing for Barca. Wages will not be a hurdle

Like all players coming to the end of their contract, I have to respect his RIGHT to try to play wherever he wants. The thing with this deal is the sheer bloodymindedness of Barca (like Bayern with Sané) to run roughshod over even the pretense of professional negotiations, without publicizing everything to make it a fait accompli that he leaves.

These so-called “legacy” clubs in Europe are a fucking disgrace. They think their shit doesn’t stink and act like they will do whatever they please, regardless of norms and rules.

Brings a warm glow to the heart but they must have known all along that the success they had was bought by borrowing money they didn't have and, if the unexpected happened, couldn't afford to repay. Any fucker can do that and now the chickens have come home to roost.

I suspect that, like United, the establishment will close in around them, manipilate the league placings and keep the myth going. They'd better hope that all the protectionist safeguards these clubs have put in to protect themselves carry them through.

think you're missing the point. Out of contract players generally can demand a signing on fee plus higher wages than they could of requested if Barca were buying from City.

I'm sure Barca can afford him but Garcia is not your way back to being a power house again

As a 4th/5th choice hes worth keeping. Seeing the number of injuries throughout the league theres no point risking being short. Certainly at CB as one of our key positions.

He knows how to play our system (whether anyone thinks hes any good at it or not).

We cant sign a replacement to be that low down the list and be able to slot in at any time for that low a fee so he stays and we sign someone in the summer when we’re in charge of the situation.

not for a club with any money, with your lot you’ll be asking him to take a paycut before his first game
you will probably offer Bayern £8m for alaba next and Lyon £10m for depay
