Eric Garcia to Barcelona

Alfredo Martinez is well placed Barcelona journalist with Onda Cero

Said tonight:

"The chosen central defender is Eric Garcia but City is not about to sell him. In the summer Guardiola had given his agreement for his exit but Soriano refused to sell."

Very specific claim to finger Ferran, Alfredo's style is not to be drawn on innuendo so this rumour in all probability came from Garcia's camp/agents. Refusal to sell for a reasonable fee never made sense but Soriano's stance also suggests it probably came from the owners

City didn’t consider the fee offered by Barcelona to be ‘reasonable’. You seem to repeatedly fail to comprehend this basic fact

Well tbf, your cancer of a board decided that your biggest icon and greatest player of all time after over 15 years of outstanding service either had to go to court or be held hostage for a year if he wanted to try something different in his mid-thirties so excuse us for being unreasonable.

Shame there was no reasonable fee offered.

We're in agreement, Bartomeu was a cancer and indeed it was petty by City wrt Garcia

Petty? We had a value on Garcia that Barca didn't match. That's how it works, nothing petty about that.

Petty is holding Messi to ransom to force him to stay the way Barcelona did the last window. That's the definition of petty, not refusing to sell if our value isn't matched.

I think if City had known Stones would turn it around the way he has. i think we would have sold him even for the lower valuation. Right now, Garcia is really of no use.

You'd think if Pep was prepared to let him go he wouldn't then play him so much

Strange conclusion to come to, agreeing to let him leave sooner than later has little to do with how he values him as a player/talent

the only things strange here are your obsession and delusion here, to the point you have created an alternate petty reality.

I know we have, I disagree with it completely.

The sums being talked about are not chump change, we really should have taken it. I can't wait to see this forum in meltdown if we lose out on Haaland over 19/20m Raiola fee for example.

Your right, we aren't going to make that mistake so we went and bought two experienced CBs, I am sorry but we don't need Garcia also. Fernandinho can play the role and id rather play Harwood-Bellis any day of the week.
We won’t lose out on Haaland over a 19/20 m Raiola fee because we didn’t sell Garcia. If we lose out because of that it’s because we don’t want to pay it.

Who cares, we all know he’s going to Barcelona, can you beat a different drum now as you’ve beaten this one to death, getting really really boring now, cheers.

Let me get this right? We were 'petty' for not accepting a bid under our valuation?

What actually is 'petty' is La Liga and Barca threatening Messi with court action if he tried to leave for nothing.
Had the season been like any other he'd have been 'free' to go in June, but you challenged him on technicalities!
