Think it’s a fair bet that if serious rumours start to come out in the Summer that he’ll be staying for 12 months, then he’s likely Madrid bound.
Personally, and I’ve said it from the start, I think he’s coming to us, nothing more to go on other than the links to the club, it being the smarter career move(imo) and my gut feeling.

if the agent has anything to do with his next move than its the highest bidder wins sadly.
newcastle will be the new cash cow for everybody and will offer double wages or more and players are greedy ?
even manchester city have to now start to look at newcastle if they stay up and fear missing out on players because of the money they will splash in the summer.

manchester city have the upper hand on being established and have 10 years of silverware/titles/champions league and the foundations for future success. so if you want medals and titles then yes man city is the best option for haaland.

Haaland wants to be the next world superstar after Messi and PR37.

He won’t become that by playing at Newcastle.

Therefore, there is zero chance of him playing for them. Ever.

I think we dynamic enough to be good with and without a 9. We got 100 points and won the domestic treble with a striker and have a good chance of winning another set of back to back titles without one.

It was slightly tongue in cheek, but if we did play Haaland in big games, he'd need service and so we’d need a proper winger or two in the squad to help that.
 
So RM are basically saying look we want Mbappe more than you but hang around another year and you can play with him then you lucky boy.

Versus…

We want you, and only you, right now and you can train under the World‘s best coach.

If he waits around for Madrid he’s crazy and not the sort of team player we need.

Plus, he could do 4 years here and go to RM at 25, should he wish.
