Erling Haaland

Doubt he'd be close to KDB wages and there's no way we're paying £100mill for a player and only signing him up on a 5 year contract. Eddie re-signed on a 7 year contract for one.

Edit: 8 years wouldn't surprise me at all.

You are absolutely right that we’d seek to sign him on a longer contract than 5 years (Dias is on a 6 year contract) though I’m unconvinced if Haaland would want to be tied to a 8 year contract as that significantly reduce his bargain power to renegotiate In the future and no one want to be a Scottie pippin,,,Haaland is also ina strong position due to his release clause the following year so depends how much we want him.

in terms of transfer fee I think that‘ll depend on whether Dortmund qualify for the champions league and what competition we face for his signature, Mbappe went for £163m and hes the closest comparable player in terms of age/talent though obviously given COVID the cost is going to be no where near that (assuming Real aren’t in the picture). We however paid £64m for Dias, forwards have always costed significantly more, his release clause is €75m and Haaland is a first team draft which Dias wasn’t (though arguably now is), United I expect will compete for his signature so I can’t see him going for anyth8ng less than £80m. I was howeve4 thinking his total cost (including £20m agents fee

The problem I foresee is that Raiola is probably pocketing a large chunk of the fee so to entice Dortmund to sell this summer (assuming their in the champions league) will take a significant fee.

in terms of salary, I think player sign for salary more than the club (if they didn’t the biggest clubs would have the lowest wage bills as players would be simply honoured to play for these clubs but that’s not the case) Haaland is not going to be cheap as united I suspect will offer him a very big salary and even if he doesn’t want to move to them he’ll know if he waits a year given his low transfer fee his salary would be high.

it’s a poker game, i don’t think it’s a given Haaland will move this summer and if he does I honestly think we’ll have to pay....he’s the first draft pick, potentially the best player in the world for the next decade, United are gonna offer him the world and the player will want a high salary given his low transfer fee the following year. There’s a reason we haven’t bought such players cause they cost, I think this summer the premium is less but there’s still a premium to have the best vs the one of the next batch of talent...I’m however happy to be proved wrong!!!

Good question i didn't think about that. I don't watch the Bundesliga but from what I've seen he is usually scoring on a break
The bundesliga is mostly transitons which is why I have my doubts about haaland. He is definitely not my top choice but If the club and pep decide he is the one, we just have to trust them.

People mock werner that he has poor technical skills but haaland has worse technical skills. Haaland is literally just a sprinter with a good left foot.

I think they do. That gives them enough money to rebuild, AND put money away to help survive the pandemic's financial effects. They have always been a selling club, and right now is their time to cash in.

Say they get €150M (this is a very conservative estimate) for the pair with Braaf coming in as part of Haaland deal. They spend €20M on Patson Daka, €30M on a new midfielder and a couple of freebies or loans. €100M in the bank.
Its been stated they’re will let Sancho go for €50m which given our clause means effectively €42m and I suspect Raiola may have to be paid a sizable fee from sale of Haalands (pogba was circa 30%%) so even if they get €100m that’s only effectively €70m.....

This is a question I asked earlier in the thread.

How is he against packed defences? The goals I've seen from him have been from long balls over the top for him to run on to, which he likely won't get playing for us against 10 men behind the ball.
I think Pep would find a way to change the approach and play to Haaland's strengths. He changed his attacking approach from Barca to Bayern. He knew Muller for example wasn't Xavi or Iniesta. You could say Muller wasn't a typical Pep player, but he found ways to have Muller more in the box with Lewandoski to score from crosses which his Barca teams didn't do as much.
With Haaland in the squad I could see something similar to how we played against West Brom where Cancelo played almost like a deep lying playmaker playing balls up top early to breach the backline. With wide wingers it can stretch the defence and open channels for him to run into. I honestly think Pep would find a way even with someone like Lukaku in the squad.

I disagree with this notion of a bidding war. There will not be. The big issue isn't whether Dortmund accept a bid, it's whether Haaland prefers us over others. Haaland will not move clubs because, for instance, Chelsea have offered more than others, it's why he and his agents have put a release clause for 2022 because the key decision was always supposed to his not Dortmund's. Every top European club will want and he will join whatever team he wants. If he decides he wants City this summer, the deal will be done no questions asked. City will not give away their place in the queue to wait an entire season where his mind can change and Dortmund know it's either 65m in 2022 or whatever excess this season. The power is with Haaland and Haaland only. And, according to reports, we believe we're at the front of the queue and I would only agree.

Also, I don't think we haven't bought these elite talents because they cost, we wanted Mbappe and Felix but the difference between those transfers and this is this is a position we need, not want. Mbappe and Felix would've been luxuries and you can't afford to pay 100m+ on players you don't really have a need for. Haaland is our marquee signing and, given everything from the media briefings, the players desire to play in the PL, his connection to City and our financial strength in a COVID world, I think we're clear favourites to get this deal done.

dortmund will sell sancho for 50m?

whats does a first draft pick mean pls?

I think Sancho is not coming back to City as long as Guardiola in is charge, me thinks. Good for him he thought he could do better when left and didn't have the patience to stick around, we are all different

What i love is his attitude, his burning desire to fight and win,he also demands it of his teammates.

The fact he's physically a monster, and he cant stop scoring also helps..... ;-)
