agree with this mate 100%. He is THE hot property currently and at his reduced release clause in the summer every major player will be in for him throwing cash at him, mino and alfie.

I've been thinking this for a while and that was cemented by us supposedly being willing to go deep for Kane last Summer instead. I just hope the Alfie/boyhood club connection gives us some sort of edge.

It’s so obvious that he is exactly the player we need for a position that’s killing us. If we really have the ambition to be as good as our chairman‘s end of season speeches always imply then we cannot keep bottling the big signings.

This is one signing we must get right, we can’t have him going to a rival while we fuck about missing 25 chances every game because we didn’t want to pay what it takes to get the best. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and spend what it takes.

Would be nice to believe but most deals get done because of cash, it's just the way the world works.

Volker Struth [Kroos & Werner's Agent]: "Haaland has a release clause, Full package with salary for 5 years and agent fee will probably be in the region of 250M to 300M euros, Even if Bayern Munich had the money they wouldn't do it, All hell would break loose if a player in Germany earned 50M year.

Me neither. Can't remember the last time we competed with another team for a player and won, and the reason for that most likely is that we don't like bidding wars that drive wages and fees up and we always walk. So many of our completed deals are clear path deals with no other clubs in the mix and even then we still walk because of money all the time. The only scenario I can see us getting Haaland is him saying City and nobody else, as well as him coming down from his 500k a week figure. I don't see why he'll do that when he can get it somewhere else.
I don’t think the “City and nobody else” scenario is outside the realms of possibility. In fact I don’t think it’s unlikely at all.

For me, the more likely stumbling blocks will be:
A. Fear of Raiola’s contract fuckery in 4 years’ time, holding us to ransom for either a huge wage increase or a free transfer.

B. Does Pep actually want him? If Tolmie’s right and the club is planning for Pep’s departure in Summer ‘23, the board should be inclined to veto his protests and look to secure the squad beyond his reign.

Even if Bayern had the cash, I don’t get the vibes that Erling wants another 4/5 years in Germany.

£65m release clause
£50m agent/Alfie fees
£350k p/w
£25m signing on fee to Erling

£231m (without bonuses). Sounds about right. The signing on fee itself would work his weekly to around £450k p/w.

why do you think city would pay those wages

£350k plus bonuses is very reasonable. Cheap, even, for a striker of his quality.

The other fees are no more an issue than a transfer fee. We were ready to pay £100m for Kane, we paid £100m for Grealish. £130m in upfront fees (amortised over 5 years) wouldn’t even consume our (likely) annual budget.

We’ve also got Raheem and Fernandinho due to come off the books. Possibly Bernardo too (pray not).

I can’t envision money being a problem, and it won’t rock the boat in the dressing room if we structure it right.

Neither of those are real issues though, are they?
ANY agent will be looking for a new improved contract for their client by that point in the contract.
There's nothing to suggest Pep doesn't want him, but even if he doesn't, the club will do what's best going forward irrespective of his wishes
