He's brilliant but how much could he realistically improve us? Would his presence mean we have less players in the box and therefore score less? Or would having a striker allow us to have even more control in games and our midfield runners would stay positionally disciplined and allow us to recycle the ball better?

If any of us had the right answers, we’d be in Pep’s seat.

Yes. No. Yes.

I think coming here is a great move for him because Pep will coach him into being an even more effective, rounded player.

That is if Pep is still here of course.

I'm inclined to agree with you but I think the move is better for Haaland than it is for us if that makes sense. I don't see us realistically scoring far more goals but I see Haaland scoring a greater proportion of our goals. It's Haaland's development, potential of winning trophies and individual honours which would be the biggest benefit of the move imo.

I think the biggest benefit of Haaland is that he could negate the inevitable drop off post Pep.

Even under Pep, there’s a benefit to be had. It’s not just how many goals, but the how and when too.

In the games we’ve struggled to kill off thanks for profligacy in front of goal, a lethal finisher like him can have things wrapped up by half time before a second half second wind from the opposition. Same goes for the tight games like away at Anfield this season - a slightly higher conversion rate and we’d have come away with 3pts.

That’s not guaranteed of course and ultimately I trust Pep to make the right decision, but he’ll certainly add something we do lack. We may create a little less, but I suspect our conversion rate will go through the roof and turn it into a net positive.

Some teams will be beat just reading the team sheet...
