I love your optimism.
Mate, it's reality. We've seen clubs throw money at trying to buy success, but to turn monetary success into a winning culture takes years. It's a culture that must run like a river throughout the club from the under 8's to the mens & womens first teams.

We've been hindered in our progress from 2012-2018 because of the triple whammy FFP sanctions of fines, squad size reductions & restrictions to what we could spend in the in the transfer market.

Even as the effects of the first FFP sanctions were ending, they came after us AGAIN in 2018/19! :-| This happened at a time when Vinny, Silva, Aguero & Fernandinho's careers were either coming to an end with us, or there were discussions about whether contracts would be extended.

Mendy was perpetually injured, Gundog & Bernardo were considering moving on because of the lack of playing time & we were looking at potential turmoil if these issues weren't resolved, as another FFP fine & its ramifications would severely restrict our ability to recruit replacements for most of the above.

Our fans need to factor all of this in where our recent CL campaigns are concerned. All we've ever wanted to do was crack on building our club, but outside forces kept interfering with our progress to stop us dead in our tracks.

Add in the 2 seasons affected by Covid, & you can see we've really been up against it in a way no other comparable club over the last 11 years has. This season has literally been our first without some kind of crisis or impending crisis hanging over us. )(

That’s exactly the example I thought of at the time.

Do people look back on that as Bayern “bottling it”? Of course not. Because it’s Bayern, they don’t bottle it.

The exact same thing happened to little old City and we “bottled it” because we were once shit in the 90s.

It’s complete confirmation bias, and some of our own supporters are the worst culprits of it.
Many still can't accept we've moved on from "Typical City". EVERY team loses crucial matches & we're no different. The mental meltdown some fans had over Wednesday's result is just utter hyperbole...

Sally Gunnel didn’t have to jump over as many hurdles as City have had put in their way this past ten years. The powers that be have tried to hinder us at every turn.

At this point, I suspect the club is waiting for one or more of three things for the announcement:

1. The end of BVB’s season
2. The end of our title race, whether successful or not
3. Preorders / announcement of our new kit.

Tick off 2-3 of those, and you can probably assume the announcement will follow very, very quickly. Imminently, one may say?

Exactly. When you sit back & weigh up what the G14/UEFA have tried to do to us since 2009, it makes it all the more amazing that we continued to be in & around the PL title race & CL the way we have.

It's a testament to Sheikh Mansour, Khaldoon, Cooke, Soriano, Txiki, Mancini, Pellegrini & Pep.

Which is why I still don’t understand why the club didn’t challenge it all more vehemently in the courts. For the price of a top class player there must be a team of lawyers here or in the US we could hire to make ffp go away?

Back in 2014 when they stiffed us by moving the FFP Monitoring Period goalposts to include 2009/10 accounts, City knew FFP went against European Anti-Competition & Monopoly laws. We just didn't want to be the one's to bring UEFA down, so as Khaldoon said, we took a pinch.

However he warned that if UEFA/G14 came after us again, that he'd rather spend £30m hiring the world's best lawyers, than accept a £30m fine & all the squad number restrictions & transfer spending limits.

We stuck to our promise the next time they came. We won on appeal & they were forced to change FFP.
