Agreed, I also think we have been putting the funds aside for a bit hit on two incoming players knowing we need a new striker plus maybe one other.

I think the original plan was an overlap year with the little Argentinian but the injuries have put that in question, despite how well things have gone.

I also believe the flexibility of the defensive players mean we won’t see a left back signed; so we will actually only see a striker coming in (unless a Stella left back is suddenly available).

This of course is totally separate to the potential of Messi coming, in which case we will see Sergio sign a one year extension irrespective of condition.
I think initially when Pep signed his new deal and we were in mid-table, we probably promised him big transfer plans with a chance to overhaul the squad and being open to the likes of Zinchenko, Mendy, Stones, Rodri, Bernardo, Mahrez and Aguero leaving.

The turnaround in our form will no doubt lead to a turnaround in our transfer plans. Suddenly Rodri, Bernardo, Stones and Zinchenko will all be fully in our plans with new deals most likely for the last 2.

Should we go on to win the league, we historically never “go big” in the market. We like to reward the squad who brought us the success.

I think we’ll struggle to move Mahrez and Mendy on without having to loan them and pay their wages so I think they’ll end up staying.

Suddenly our “big summer” will be signing a new striker and most likely renewing Aguero for 1 more year as an experienced back up.

I also don’t think we’ll sign Messi.

I doubt we are so reactonary. I Don't think pre Christmas we would ever have intended so many leaving as Zinchenko, Mendy, Stones, Rodri, Bernardo, Mahrez and Aguero leaving. Probaby our plans now are the same as then I'd guess the only ones leaving would be Mendy, maybe Aguero, and Fernandinho and Mahrez only if Messi were to come. Getting money for Mahrez would be no problem. Expect a striker to arrive and Aguero to leave. Not sure about Fernadinho. Messi who knows.

Haaland, any decent prospects similar to Torres, a left back (lol, always a left back), and a squad defensive mid, and we've got a squad for another five years. Haaland is key, I think, and obviously improves us.

Haland, Foden, Torres all 20yo. Could have our forward line sorted for a decade... Get it done txiki

Had no idea, but the lad actually had a trial at everton when he was younger (and was rejected)

Would not be surprised if the German rags try to get him to stay at Dortmund until the end of next season so they can buy him for the release clause fee. Lewnadowski will be 33 in August so they will need to have a plan to replace him and Haaland would seem the obvious choice.

Hope it does not happen but the pathway from Dortmund to Bayern is well trodden.

Won’t be going to Barca they can’t afford him and PSG won’t go for him unless they lose Mbappe. Not sure he’d want PSG anyway. Madrid only if they can sell players, though think they would go for Mbappe first.

I think it is naive to rule Barcelona out of any big money transfer, just because they have no money. Never stopped them before, doubt it will this summer.
That said, i don't see Haaland going there this window.

Only in football could this make sense be true...
