In Two years? :)
They can recover from this. Not to the point where they're as good as they used to be, almost certainly not. But to a level certainly better than most.
But in two years time most of their players are going to be over the hill/out of contract, and they're going to effectively need a new squad. That's when we'll see a more permanent set of problems.

The only things that could change that are if their owners sell to a wealthy conglomerate or if they get a couple more of their miracle sales that they get.

I agree tbh, the front 3 all turn 29 or 30 in the next few months, they have no decent cover at FB, VVD and Gomez are there best CB pairing but we don't know how they will bounce back from injury, 3rd choice matip is a perennial sick-note, the midfield is hardly youthful, and squad players like Milner, Ox and Shaqiri are all past their best. That all boils down to one hell of a rebuild.

Manager's past his peak at the club as well.

It all depends if they can get good money from a few players. Chelsea are in good form and not getting top 4 will cripple them. Henderson out is big. Can’t wait.

Does Alfie like us ? We were a very different club back in his day .Did we treat him ok
I guess now we will find out
He liked us enough to be in the away end at West Ham back in 2008...
Maybe young Erling should read some of the YouTube comments about his dad from #TopReds when he’s deciding who to join this summer

Not sure if related or not, but Tammy Abraham is not interested in signing a new contract at Chelsea and possibly already looking for a way out before its end in 2023, according to The Athletic

Said this in the Liverpool thread, they are in a very precarious situation this year.

Wijnaldum is off in the summer as they cant pay him what he wants.

All their big players have 2 years left on their deals this summer (Salah, Mane, Van Dijk, Firmino, Fabinho) along with the likes of Oxlade-Chamberlain, Keita and Henderson.

They probably wanted to move a Mane/Salah on this year for stupid money but very few have that money. Even if they do there are other younger, cheaper options for them to be pursuing. Liverpool cant afford to let them get to last 12 months of their contract so they are going to have to fork out £££ immidiately to protect an asset for each of these players, or save money by letting their contracts run down in the hope they cant still demand a higher fee

Also, they still owe about £50m on Jota/Thiago.

Liverpool wont be doing anything of note this summer and thats even with CL. If they dont make that then they are absolutely fucked and we can all celebrate.

Anyway back to Haaland, you cant afford to miss out on him really, you need to go all out for him.

Wish we had a hope in hell of being in contention for him!

I said they same a few months ago when they were top. I had already accepted they were going to win the league this season, but looking at their squad, I knew they weren’t going to be around for much longer. Turns out they’re falling apart quicker than I thought. Things can quickly change in football and they probably will be back challenging us next season as they will still have a strong squad. But in couple of years, they’re going to have to replace key players which is going to cost them a shit tonne of money. I can’t see their owners spending a good part of £500m in replacing Salah, Mane, Firmino, Henderson, Thiago, Van Dijk.

Gomez is shit. He gets run over by any decent forward. He hasnt played in a while so the Scousers desperately try to build him up as some sort of modern day Franco Baresi
