Erling Haaland

My concern is that we all know United have shown they're willing to blow us out of the water wages wise. Even with the Guardiola factor and our better trophy record in recent years that's been enough to turn the heads of a couple of players to them.

The speculation over Messi continues and I think if we can close that then it could be a difference maker. Surely few people would turn down the opportunity to play alongside him.

United are continuing to burn cash and their debt is rising sharply... the loss of match day revenue is hitting them hard - bizarrely the pandemic is giving us a comparative commercial advantage over them. Them crashing out of the UCL will have hit them particularly hard. The media are also full of Real Madrid having money to burn but I'm not certain that is true. The transfer market will be cagey in the summer with clubs looking at uncertain financial situations. Neymar and Mbappe look like they are going to stick close to PSG (for now) because they know - that rich pickings are not available elsewhere.

Have sat watching for long enough. Sorry to piss on peoples chips and I expect a lot of abuse but Haaland will not be a Manchester City player........sorry.

I suspect you are right... I would hope the club can find a decent striker that fits our needs. Big brash bold, world record transfers are not a part of our modus operandi and I can’t see that changing... nor would I particularly want it to.

Makes me think the club are in for Kane. As much as we like to believe we don't do big bold transfers, I reckon they aren't gonna mess around when replacing Aguero.

I don't think City have been "blown out of the water" by anyone, though it has been argued by the press. The latest case is "Bruno" where the press linked us with him repeatedly despite assurances that City had no interest in the player whatsoever. There have been players we have shown some interest in, but ended our interest in, not because United blew little City away, but because the selling club wanted far more than City thought they were worth. Examples of this are Fred and Maguire. Oh and that South American fella who wanted the budget of a sovereign state a week in wages ... Then there are those like Pogba. City had been interested apparently but only the previous window and had ended their interest at the same time as Real Madrid, for two reasons in our case - Pepd had got his real target and Juventus wanted far more than we thought he was worth. When City buy a player it's a result of research, preparation and a deep assessment of value for money. In the past years our only serious rivals for players we really are interested in have been Real and Barca, and that seems likely to have changed.

My thoughts exactly on our chances of getting Haaland..and we know utd will go for him as well...hence the Cavani loan signing.....he will go and then they will go full in for Haaland...who has high regard for OGS supposedly so that could also match the potential attraction of playing for pep in his eyes at least.

Then there is the Raiola factor and whether the club will deal with him at all. Raiola will be licking his fat smarmy lips at the bidding war that he will initiate in the summer. expect to hear a lot from that fat bastard all summer long..he will drag it out for maximum exposure.

Having watched the sum total of one youtube video I am confident he would score 40 goals a season in this team. We don't often come up against a high line like he seems to in Germany but he looks like he's got a touch of the Aguero's around the 6 yard box as well as being great one on one. He'd be playing against better defenders week in week out but he looks a baller

It's a question of semantics but I see where you're coming from. Personally I think Pogba would have proven value for money at what United paid for him but he's the only example that comes to mind where I have a twinge of 'if only'. Maguire, Fred and Sanchez were bullets dodged.

We’ve been talking about their debt for nearly a decade and it’s yet to impinge on their signing policy.

Based on?
Very few people are privy to what's going on within the club. And the very few that are fed snippets get it wrong as often as they do right. I like that the club keep their cards close to their chest and keep everyone guessing. It will be a pleasant surprise to see us sign Haaland I think. I'm not building my hopes up though. Too long in the tooth to get excited with all the players we've supposedly been linked to over the years, well before we got bought out.

I am also very surprised as to why our fans think we are signing haaland. Yes we need a striker and there are not much around but we have not really been linked with haaland. We have had one link, and he is tier 1 for man city news so it might have a lot of weight but I am surprised how our fans think we are getting him.

Hopefully we get him but I think people have put their expectations too high for something nonexistent

I wouldn't say non existent but there's been a fair bit of speculation, based nothing more than we need a top striker I think, but hey ho I know nowt about what is going on behind the scenes within the club.
