Erling Haaland

It's not owner money, the investment by Silver Lake can be used across the whole of the CFG.

Sheikh Mansour did not get the money.
I don’t get this to be honest. We aren’t owned solely by Sheikh Mansour. We are owned by City Football Group, of which Sheikh Mansour, Silver Lake and China Media Capital have a stake. So on the face of it, to someone who doesn’t understand the intricacies of football finance (me), it seems a lot like owner money?

100% he does...

I’m normally the kiss of death on stuff like this, getting older and more conscious of info, this is also separate to what billy will already know, however, I’ve spoken to someone who will undoubtedly be involved in this and it’s already further along than people realise...

As supporters we have yet to really feel the euphoria of what a signing like this looks like, despite the outstanding acquisitions over the years, this will be the game changer in that regard...

Does it happen? I’ve been cautious since Kaka tbh, this one though just feels inevitable!
Yes, we've never actually signed a world class player. We have turned them up into world class players. Haaland, at 20 year old, is already world class, with potential to be super duper world class.

I dont get why city fans are so keen on missing out on the greatest young striking talent in years. This entire thread is filled with posts full of negativity and "not a pep player" (whatever the fuck that means). We know from media sources and our own ITKs that he's our top guy. It's also slightly disrepectful to our board members, who are trying their best to sign him, who they feel is the best for our club. If we manage to pull him off, it will go down as one of the "signings" of all time, if not, we know we play amazing with false nines. The future is bright, so enjoy it.
95% of city fans know how huge this signing will be, it's just the minority are the most vocal, as is always the case

When both the brothers believe you know that shit is vinyl ... :)

To be fair I think a lot of the cynicism stems from the time when, despite all the favourable signs and positive ITK rumours, ultimately hearts were broken by our failure to land Ahmed Hossam Hussein Abdelhamid. Some people have never got over it.

Sorry mate but unless you have some inside info (do you?) or a direct quote, you do not know for a fact that he's our top target. You're just spouting what you think makes sense and you want to be true. Not "a fact".

Of course you may have inside info and if that's the case I apologise.

I can tell you United did an off the record briefing last week stating they couldn't afford him and were distancing themselves from an auction.

Ole also stated his belief City were at the front of the queue.

He is well informed on the situation, as it is in United's interests to know the landscape, as they want to sign a striker this summer.

City do not have a problem with the local pack writing we are in for Haaland, and we are very quick to shut down such talk.

We have been speaking to his dad for a few months.

Might be a coincidence, but Pep signed his new deal shortly after the club told him we would be backing him big again.

Ha, hope you’re well pal and family are good?

It’s ok to be excited on this one, I’d say our position is night and day to previous efforts of this ilk, the powerhouse we dreamed of being is here and now, time others soaked that in!

I believe those that claim inside information that we are after him (why wouldn't i), and i can also see my own logic in that goe myself, given his quality already and even more so, potential.

So when i say 'what media sources?' in reference to claims that we are linked with him, it means just that. I am not saying i don't believe it, i just honestly haven't seen any meaningful links. The closest is maybe Bild claiming we'd be the favourites, but any old chancer could assume that in the current standings of top European clubs, both financial and footballing.

So have there been links in the public domain that i have missed?

I don't know how people will cope with Haaland and Messi tbh. I think both inside and outside there will be an almost total meltdown.

I felt euphoria when we signed edin, his numbers were great. And sergio. And a few others.
Totally get your point, none if them were 'star' signings, and if we sign haaland i'm sure il feel euphoria too.

City have made it clear the money can be used for the benefit of the entire CFG group, which included City, obviously.

I understand that can form operational costs, infrastructure and absorbing costs that can relieve other areas.

If we are saying the money is Sheikh Mansour's and can't be used, he might as well have taken the money directly into his own pocket?

The money is earmarked for the CFG and the improving City and sister clubs.

Won't be for transfers, as others have stated.

My original post was hypothetical, imagine the foaming if CFG loaned City £300m to be paid back over 30 years...

My opinion, nothing more. Messi knows what he wants to do next and that isn't stay at Barcelona. From there, I look at our side I think it is almost impossible City let him go elsewhere.
No chance he stays under Laporta? I’m not saying I believe everything printed but seems like there’s always a chance?

For me, the more telling coincidence is the lack of urgency to get sergio committed to another year. Fitness or not, there is nooo way the club would be letting it get this late on in the season and risk him getting tempted by another club without a fight, if they did not have ambitions for a replacement in mind. Nothing in that says that replacement is Haaland of course, but i really doubt they don't have someone big in mind.

I’m not sure about that.

Aguero was regarded as one of the best young strikers in the game (much like Haaland is now) and you could argue the likes of Tevez, Yaya and KDB were world class prior to joining us.

For me, tevez maybe, along with the the billboard sentiment. But being honest, neither yaya nor kev, at the time we signed them, gave me the 'oh my we've bagged a worldie' buzz. Obviously, i was wrong. But thats just the point, they weren't obvious star level signings.

I mean look at the reaction of Merson and that mob from sky going on about how expensive kev was and he wasn’t worth it. I know they know fuck all but goes to show the reaction at the time
