I am interested to read on this and some other transfer forums, about some targets not being "Pep like" players. I think it is clear to see, that Pep doesn't really have a player type, he molds whoever into his different systems. We have had midfield players that have played left back, left backs that operate in midfield, and our false nine system has the entire premiership scratching their heads as to who to pick up.

Just look at the transformation that has happened into many of our past and present players under Pep, personally I will not question a target, because I know the club completes due diligence on our transfers now that Pep is our coach, I cannot see us signing any more Bony's and Mangala's with him around.

The narrative has changed from Pep, from being irritated with the continuing slander of spending money he has switched into being yes we do and that is why we have the best players.

This can be taken in different ways, either he is winding everyone up or if we do spend big this summer, he can just carry on saying yes I told you we spend money to have the best players.

We as a club are without doubt one of the very few who have the financial cloutto go big this summer, bring it on!

I don’t get this to be honest. We aren’t owned solely by Sheikh Mansour. We are owned by City Football Group, of which Sheikh Mansour, Silver Lake and China Media Capital have a stake. So on the face of it, to someone who doesn’t understand the intricacies of football finance (me), it seems a lot like owner money?
Mansour sold his shares to Silverlake but invested the money back into CFG it was probably part of the cost of the deal If he was taking the money then it’s likely that the amount would have been less

Pep is right to take that approach.... since when did United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Barcelona, Real Madrid et al have to apologise for spending money or for monopolising all the best players. The media are utter hypocrites.

Pep's approach has changed from 'all clubs spend money', 'we needed to spend money because - ageing squad etc', and other semi justifying honest statements, to, 'fuck you, we spend money, and lots of it'.

In my opinion, changing his stance to the public like that, in how you project an image of the club, just does not happen wothout khaldoon's knowledge or Some level of reflection of Khaldoon's own stance. Pep is way too professional and respectful to let his own inner attitude channel anything that can portray the club in a way they may not wish to be even imagined let alone described.

And that change comes pretty much straight after the cas showdown, when they Did spend a fair amount of time in dialogue.

So in think our mindset is likely a bit more aggressive now, and i'd like to think whem it comes to it, th le club will pay what it takes to secure the right targets.

And before anyone starts with the 'we signed 4th choice Dias in the summer crap', clearly, Koulibaly wasnt the right target for that level of money at his age, we spent the same that we intended to on dias olin his 20s, so it wasn't about the Amount of money, but the value of it.
