Erling Haaland

Would prefer Joao Felix as he would slot right in at false 9 and we would not have to change our style. With Haaland Pep has to tweak things, hopefully it won't make the team worse overall, because right now we are total football machine.

I can see why some wouldn't see the need for Haaland given he's like a bulldozer - we've spent nearly 5 years watching Pep not play with that type of striker.

I can also see why some do want him. An absolute born goalscorer who, given his history (Alfie, Facebook fan group, wearing the shirt as a kid) would just get it. On top of that, he's young, has hunger to win and presumably to improve and we're in the market for a striker.

It's easy to forget that Pep has changed a lot of his tactics this season and has done since we've had him in charge so a player not seeming to be the right fit is likely not the right fit for the current setup.

No guarantees it'll work but fuck me, I'd rather us get him and take that chance than somebody else!

If he comes to City I'm guessing he might have the same greeting that Kinsgley Coman got from Pep at Bayern "are you ready to learn how to play football?

Hopefully so, he would be up against better defences here than those he encounters in the Bundesliga but he'd also be playing for a far more dominant side.
He wouldn’t be up against better defences than he faces in the CL though and he has 20 in 14 so I’m not overly worried.

Haaland and Delap have very similar styles in the context of very little contribution to keeping possession and pressing. What both have, though, is an insatiable appetite for scoring goals. If they've scored two, they want three. When they've scored three, they want four and so on. That sort of mindset cannot be coached and is a very rare commodity.

I don't think we'd change style if he was to take a wide position... e.g. getting on the end of crosses to simply tap in like Sterling/Sane years ago and/or powering into the space that's not really available centrally.

Obviously he could also play as a 9 but I think he could be better in our current style...and leave the middle to Jesus or a false 9.

silva was a world class footballer, from what I've seen i dont think haaland is world class, bizarre comparison , as ive said i could be completely wrong, i am humble enough to admit that, you and a few other seem to know 100 % he is the 2nd coming and wont hear anything else, as i said in my first post i expected a pile on from the know it alls on this thread, and i wasnt wrong.
The “few others” being the scouting departments at every single top club and anyone with a pair of eyes that watches football you mean?

Oh Jesus Christ.

This forum makes me so glad that we aren’t in charge.

You think we’d sign the likely 2nd best number 9 in the world right now and not play him at 9 but instead play him on the wing so Jesus can continue missing the sitters and 1 on 1’s? Riiiiiight.

Haaland isnt a good dribbler or passer nothing execeptional in that side of his game, but what he is world class at is finishing you give haaland two chances in a game one of them is going in. He is so confident in front of goal compared to other strikers. Hes also tall so imagine him getting onto KDBs crosses. I genuinley believe he would score 25 to 30 a season here

Jesus needs to be kept as far away from in front of goal as possible

His movement, and his pace, a 100% fit for 'the way pep likes to play'.

He's a very effective dribbler, if not exactly smooth. He's a lot like Yaya, he gets going and there's just a trail of opposition defenders bouncing off him and left on the floor in his wake.

In the Sevilla games, every time he'd start running at goal, even if it was in his own half, he sucked in half the Sevilla team because they were terrified of him, and it created so much space for others.
