Erling Haaland

Pep is reported to have specified that City did not have the money to sign a striker at 150 million and he went on to say that "all the clubs are struggling financially, us as well." This is, of course saying that Haaland will not be sold for 150 million this summer to us - or any other club. It does not rule City out of reaching agreement with Dortmund and Haaland at all.

Far too sensible a post for this forum .

interesting how he specified 150 mil when dortmund leaked that they want 150 mil for haaland yesterday. This is clearly mind games between city and dortmund. I think we're in for him and we are the only ones who can pay the ridiculous prices.

It would be really stupid to think we would pay 150m for Haaland, especially in this covid situation.

City are where they are because, unsurprisingly, the club bosses and Pep are quite smart. Very much hope we continue with our sensible transfer policy and don't give silly money for players and wages. Our transfer record is not in top 10 in Europe, even clubs like Atletico and Arsenal have (much) higher transfer records.

Mahrez was £90M for ages until we bought him at a much more sensible £60M, so I would speculate that city would agree a figure that they seem fair and leave it on the table.
Other clubs would run him into the ground for the money they spend and at 20 that could be a career changer, if I was him I would rather come to city knowing that my welfare would be as important as the goals I scored.
I would be excited if he was in the £60-70M price but to go all in and upset this wonderful team we have then I'd rather stick with what we have or develope another player.

I wonder how many more titles, FA Cups and CLs we’d have won if maybe on one or two occasions for the right player we had splashed out whatever it took. We’ll never know of course, though it’s tempting to imagine if we’d had Hazard and van Persie, instead of Sinclair for example.

Regardless of hindsight, we are now in a position where the perfect player for our needs is available and we would be negligent to see him go elsewhere when even Pep admits our finishing needs to improve or have someone that can finish all the chances we create.

We have an outstanding team that is missing a lethal striker to make us almost unbeatable. Just one more chance per game scored would make such a difference to us. We need Haaland at any cost. Any.

“With all this, we will agree that the tour of Mino Raiola and Alf Inge Haaland did not impress Pep Guardiola too much.”

This tracks as correct to me, Mino trying to drum up the price on City by going over to Barca and Madrid and Pep firing a warning shot back to him. It's a negotiation, you guys all need to chill the fuck out.

Not really, we are not desperate.

We won 21 games in a row this season (the previous all-time record was 14 games!) without a top top finisher and, who knows, we may win the lot in several weeks. Maybe, just maybe, we should trust the team, the manager, the club bosses a little bit more.

Why do some fans think they know better than Txiki and Pep what we need and at what cost?

Meh. We fecked the league with our proper strikers missing significant time. We're not doubling our club transfer record to fund another club's pandemic relief. Haaland should dump his snake of an agent before he pisses his career away the way he did Pogba.

Spot on. TBH, I know Raiola has a rep as a master negotiator but yesterday's shenanigans looked really amateurish.
Raiola is (or more accurately was) a master bluffer. The problem is, there is no money in the market to bluff with. You literally can't play poker without physical cards. I am happy Pep called it out right away. I think we'll still get him, but we won't go overboard with any part of the transfer financially. If it does go out of hand, we will walk. And that is EXACTLY what makes our club so sustainable.

Yep. He will have weighed his words very carefully here. It's a Sicilian message.

i thought mino was suppose to be experienced but his mystical magical tour was amateur at best . The whole galaxy know city is loaded and a cash cow especially post covid no one has financial strength as city but this move will back fire if they piss city .
