Erling Haaland

Could it be something as simple as we’ve given our word to Kane and that’s that?

But this is what confuses me. Right now, it's looking like Levy and Spurs don't want players in return for Kane. They just want money. So in that case, we're talking WELL over 100m to get him in. When it comes to that price range, how can we justify getting a soon to be 28 year old instead of a "generational talent" (hate that term but it's apt) that genuinely looks like an absolute world beater? I'm just struggling with that logic.

I remember now why I serve the transfer threads.
If Haaland signs for Chelsea I believe we might as well hand them the PL title in August.

I'll pop back in a few weeks.

It's not naive in terms of they want players who are committed to coming here.

We have shown plenty of times that we walk away if it's not the right smell for us.

I suspect City don't want to be dragging out this window for a number nine because it absolutely has to happen.

Two world class strikers on the market, it would be amateurish to find out you aren't the destination of choice, being forced to pay well over the odds by the other club, knowing backed into a corner.
I also think players making a move shows they are serious & want to come

Stones, Sterling, Walker, Laporte, Mahrez & now Kane imo it's Kane who we want & not Haaland

All the above made it known

I think City wont get turned over by Dortmund, Raiola & paying £400.000 a week in wages knowing Haaland has at least 3 massive deals in the next 10 years & Raiola pissingnon everyone's chips

Chelsea are making noises just like UTD did with Pogba then Sanchez

City imo have walked away & Kane will be signed

Either way we have a world class ready made player who scores for fun & takes a good fucking pen

I for 1 aint bothered how much it costs whatever it is City will.pay what they believe & won't be anywhere near the £150m more £100m + bonuses

Whilst conversations are out of our control, the fact the player is receptive enough to hear Chelsea out, as Mino also was with Barca and Real, the writing is clear enough, Erling isn't closed off to anyone.

That's his prerogative, but it's not how City want to roll this summer because they want assurances around our next No.9, such is the priority weighted on it.

We thought we had it with Erling, appears not, if he's still happy to listen to pitches from Chelsea at this stage, however prudent on his part.

It may explain a lot on Kane.
Maybe Haaland is doing this because we havent shown him that he is our priority..which again would be our mistake

Remember they also had a transfer ban for a year so they had cash reserves built up for this, even then though I do think this would be them essentially emptying their reserves, and that team is going to need a remodel in a couple of years, with Thiago Silva getting up there, and Rudiger having a year left on his deal.

lampard had money in the last summer £228.7million or so say the sun ?
there is not a chance in hell chelsea have £170milion for haaland even after winning the champions league
its just a trick the agent is using to get a bigger deal out of man city ?

haaland will be the first signing city make this summer and possibly kane could be a late deal if he moves after waiting to see who the new manager is and what the plans. city will loan players this summer and sterling could be loaned to arsenal and a couple more will be out on loan

Why do you keep looking at these deals purely from one perspective.

Maybe City are going for Kane because Haaland has not answered the phone to Pep or sent Txiki a whatsapp telling him to do one.

A mistake is chasing Haaland all summer for him to end up at Chelsea and we end up with Danny Ings. City don't get in transfer nonsense anymore, that is why most players we sign have release clauses. No nonsense, deal done.

Signing Kane is not some no mark transfer, it would be the biggest move this league has seen in a decade.

Sure! The player whose never shown any hint of joining and is whoring himself to the highest bidder will be our first signing this season. I'll also be expecting the look on Sterling's face when we tell him he'll be going on loan to Arsenal.

Willing to bet it won't even be the biggest move the league has seen this year, let alone decade.

Will definitely be a bit gutted inside of we get Kane but Chelsea get Haaland
You will get over it when Kane wins golden boot next year and we win the title
You would get over it even more three years later when Kane leaves us and haaland signs for Madrid!!

I wouldn’t be surprised if Chelsea are only positioning themselves for a move next season. I can’t believe that any club will pay Dortmund’s fee plus Haaland’s wages plus Mino’s commission. There’s £75m in difference between this and next season.

I don’t think it would be smart to bet against Haaland winning the Prem golden boot in his first season.

His stats speak for themselves, particularly his CL ones. 40% conversion rate isn’t it?

Agreed, I think its the financial package more than anything that's likely to have put City off, a reported fee north of 150M the payoff to Alf and Mino, maybe 20M a year in wages. Kane won't be cheap but the overall numbers will add up to a fair old amount in difference.

Id still back Kane to score more for us than him for Chelsea

We’re signing both!!!
Gotta replace mahrez, sterling, Bernardo, Laporte and Jesus when they go to Barca

Looks like It's boiling down to 1 of the targets being 90% commited and the other 100% commited to the cause and would walk over broken glass to even just win a community shield medal...my money's on Kane walking threw the door

I agree with this, but I also think the culture of our ownership plays a part -we have no desire to be used, played or made to look second best In any high profile transfer saga. We tend to deal in (near) certainties and walk away very quickly as you say if things don’t smell or feel quite right.
