It's a big problem for any club with a manager going into the last 18 months of a contract, even more so with the best manager in the world.

Even with blue tinted glasses, we have to expect some sort of drop off post Pep.
I doubt it has much bearing. Whoever he signs for he won't know who will be manager in a years time. Even 1 year with Pep if it is only 1 year is a year more than he'd get anywhere else. There's as much chance of Pep being with us in 2 years a there is Ancelloti and Pochetino still being in their clubs in 2 years.
Not as if we would replace Pep with Allardyce.

I agree with a lot you say but one major point is Pep, will be still be here in 18 months time?

If Pep does leave at the end of his contract, Little Alf will only have his incredible coaching for 1 season and who knows what will happen post Pep.

Madrid are a huge draw, a magnificent new stadium, stunning location and instant fame and unless Barca perform the second coming, Real will be dominating for the foreseeable future.
I see this point and I am sure it would be in the conversation between Haaland and Pep but you can look at it the other way and Haaland is joining Madrid with Ancelotti who despite his great career is not exactly setting the world alight these days and is basically keeping things ticking over for Real.

I don't see someone like Klopp, Pep, Nagelsmann or anyone joining Real any time soon so if Haaland really is going to be pushing himself to become the best striker he can be and wants the best coaching in the world then Real is not that club.

Disagree, working under Pep is a huge draw for any player.

Maybe I'm a dreamer but I really can see Pep extending for another 3 seasons on top of his current contract. That would take him to the 10 years point that seems to be the 'statue' level. He just seems to be very happy here. The idea that he'd do 7 seasons was unfathomable when he joined and yet here we are. The only thing that threatens if is if he wins the CL, I think he'll consider it job done then.
He may stay 3 year longer but it’s very unlikely that he would sign one three year extension. It would probably be two extensions to get there

Madrid's manager is almost irrelevant, they are a very differently run club than ours.

Perez calls the shots and the players seem to have to take care of themselves, some players can't handle it, ie Bale and Hazard.

Haaland strikes me as a player that can look after himself , he is very driven, maybe selfish and with his family hiring the fat Italian Agent, maybe, just maybe, finances and fame are most important.

It was hilarious to watch Ancelotti give a quote the other day saying the wishes to stay at Madrid for as long as Simeone has been at Atletico to leave his mark. That won’t happen, sorry to say...

It is, and if everyone was saying he was leaving us to join Madrid then it may have a bearing on it. He isn't though it's either a year possibly more with Pep with us or no Pep at all.So if Pep has any bearing at all on his decision it would be to come to us not go somewhere else.

With only a year left Haaland I would imagine would want an idea who the club are thinking could replace Pep.

Don't underestimate the draw of Pep.

It doesn’t seem 5 minutes since Pep was driving around in the back of a black cab with young Braden

You are confusing 2 things the draw of Pep and assurances that we will appoint a competent successor. Only we can offer Pep for any period, nobody else can so that's to our advantage.
The appointment of a top level successor is an assurance he would want wherever he goes and all clubs would say that's their aim but none would name names of any potential successor because like us nobody is certain when they will need one. We might tell him some of the names in the frame in the event of Pep leaving and I'm sure those names would be all at the top level, if not at Peps level.

The only reason wreck it Ralph and the scum are mentioned today in the media for Haalands signature, is to make it look like both ragpicker and the scum are still relevant in football !!

We now know why the dortmund CEO gave that weird interview where he was practically begging haaland to go to madrid

Seems like they won't be able to finance a deal in the summer and want haaland to wait another year. This is obviously ideal for dortmund as they get to keep him for another year.

IMO this is the ideal time to press. none of our rivals for haaland can afford him, only us. we need to convince him he should move this summer and that we're the best (and only) team around.

The only links he has to the rags is what the media feed. Ralf will have zero influence on his signing. If we make the effort and match others offers we'll sign him. He will have been watching and following city very closely and knows he'd fit in here perfectly. We just need to show how much we want him.
