Doubt he’ll announce his decision (his next club) but apparently BVB want him to decide whether he’s leaving or going to stay another year by February. Which isn’t really news because I don’t think anyone believes he’ll stay another year there. Even if he “dreams of Madrid” and they’d prefer he move summer 2023 they’ll find away to get it done this summer.

February is the deadline, I’m just saying that we could get a decision in Jan and things can move quickly then.

There is a world of difference between, Dortmund want to know if he will stay or move on by the end of February, so they can plan their summer business (stating the obvious) and, he might announce his decisision next month, to the extent we would know if he is coming here or not.

The footballing world is taking it for granted he is leaving in the summer. Where to, anyone's guess. Dortmund have made noises about offering him a new contract to tempt him to stay longer and remove/increase the release clause.
If or maybe when that is refused next month, things Could move quickly. Or they could stay as they are till the summer which would still suit all parties.
