Look at it a different way which players HAVE developed under Mancini? I can think of 2, Zabba has become an absolute engine and Richards has improved his focus.
Barry has developed his game under Mancini to become a quality defensive midfielder and Kompany has become one of the world's best centre backs too (wouldn't think so at the moment though!). Yaya could be included as I believe he's become a better player under Mancini.
However, we can't really come to any foregone conclusions due to causation.
I'd agree with you regarding causation, certainly for Kompany.
Barry is an interesting one; he is one of those players that divides people and unless you watch him week in / week out it's sometimes difficult to see exactly what he brings to a team. Ask any non-City (and Villa) fan and you'll likely get told he's shit...he took a while to win us over if we're being honest
The nature of the role he plays is why that is the case. He doesn't 'go sliding in' like De Jong yet he made the most successful tackles in our team last season.
The way he reads the game and sees danger gives him the ability to be very precise with his positioning meaning he rarely has to make any desperate tackles, much like John Terry at his prime.
I think the fact David Silva voted him player of the year last season says it all really.
