ESPN commentators.

Lost count of the number of times they referred to Sporting's last match...

against Glass-cow Celtic!!!

Total shite. Staying up was bad enough watching the kids but they made it totally unbearable.

What I found most amusing that one of the commentators had played soccer at the highest level according to his mate????

Has anyone heard of him in the UK?

Like somebody said in the match thread it's like they had the bloody wikipedia pages open for each player.

Everytime a player touched the ball they mentioned some useless fact about how many goals they had scored, away from home, with their left foot, using green boots.

Sorry to dampen your fire but I've heard of him. Played in the World Cup 1990, not sure about 1994. Paul Caligiuri was his name, he was the co-commentator. Spent some seasons playing in the Bundesliga, though not with the biggest of teams I assume.

The worst thing about the yank commentators is not any alleged lack of knowledge about the game, its rules, its history or tactics. Its just the bloody TERMINOLOGY.

Wide zone? The six? Goal attack?

Its the wing, its the six yard area (box will do), and what the hell do you think they're attacking? Ah, but we forget in real 'football' they attack the endzone which stretches across the width of the field.

Oh, and while I'm on it, it's not baseball, it's ROUNDERS.

Did you Google that?

No, other members of the USA 90 team include Meola, Balboa (possibly), John Harkes, Eric Wynalda (good player) and others who escape me. No google. No wikipedia. No help. Honest guv. I just know.
