ESPN Press Pass

Gab Marcotti is the only reason i watch it talks alot of sense dosent have a bias and watches football from all around Europe not just England and the champions league games like our media the only time they would see a team like Valencia or FC Porto is in the champions league where as Gab watches just about every league in Europe from Holland to the Prem and very knowledgeable pretty much saves that show for me.

Poor programme very dull and cringy, they evidently all have very poor knowledge of the game of football as well.

Spot on. I remember one Sunday evening when he was a guest on Talksport and they had the usual mutants ringing in.

Some dickhead cockney rings in coming out with some shite when Gab tore apart whatever his argument was. Cockney then comes out with 'what do you know about football, you're an American?'

Comedy gold.

Having had this misfortune to watch several matches in the US where Tommy Smyth was commentating and posing as an 'expert', I'm amazed to find that he is now popping up on UK TV.

Put it this way, in the world of US soccer coverage, which when I was watching it (early 2000s) was very basic and naive, he stood out as both slow and having very poor knowledge. He was little more than a joke.

To find out that he is appearing over here now genuinely shocks me. He is a joke of an 'expert'. On a par with any of the buffoons we have over here.

As an American, I will say this in our usual crass way...

Tommy Smyh is used in my country, I believe, because they needed some jolly fat **** to set up there on the screen who had an accent that sounded like it came from somewhere in Britain to the typical, dumb ass American soccer hater who only thinks of it as "some game the Brits go for, and boy are they snobby, anyway...".

To me, he's a clown. I often wonder what happens to him when he meets a Yank like me (and there are becoming more and more of us, to be honest) who knows football and can discuss teams, tactics and how pathetic the Rags looked on Sunday when we cut them open again and again at the Swamp until they were completely humiliated...

Oops, sorry. Got carried away there. Still giddy from Sunday. Seeing the highlights of the "reserves" giving Wolves a total hiding hasn't done much to calm me down. Robert Plant will be on suicide watch end of day on Saturday. How many goals are the first eleven going to score?
