Estimate cost of building real Death Star

An in depth knowledge of Sith culture and technology would be required to fully understand the structure of The Death Star.

The students started by assuming the Death Star could be made from steel

That's like me doing a study on Shakespeare but assuming that he was actually H from Steps, it might make for mildly interesting reading but it's not really going to make much sense.

Any contract to build a death star would come under the auspices of the Strategic Defence Initiative, and therefore the usual tendering process is set aside in favour of automatically awarding the contract to Halliburton - a company we can all trust implicitly to act in the best interests of it's shareholders.
God bless America.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to do it on one of those lease purchase deals? Pay a deposit, 36 monthly payments and then the option to buy?

The way technology advances I reckon there'd be an I-star3 or a DS4.6 available by the time the 3 years is up.

1 trillion dollers

However if this contract had been done in the UK, it would end up 3 times that price and probably wouldn't have been made until Empire Strikes Back, which would have really fucked up the end of New Hope.

Also all the workers would be from eastern Europe and the cost saving would mean it would resemble more of a Death Oddshape
