Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

the early leavers do it to wind up the "stay-to-the-end police", works every time. Pep's fault, or FFS or Jack Grealish, defo Raz....or, just a wild guess, missing ten minutes, utterly pointless minutes versus an extra hour on a journey back home felt a reasonable decision.
The only ground in the country where leaving early happens, must be a legacy of Maine Road, where getting out early avoided being crushed at the
squeeze points, the gate behind the scoreboard end a real choker.
The atmosphere was proper "after-the lord-mayor's show" stuff. From crucial derby to meaningless euro in such a short time....

Left early for the first time this season.
It was never going to be a classic but never expected to be as bored as I was watching a game.
In my 3rd tier seat in the South Stand I was surprised at the gusty wind when I got outside.
Might have something to do with the quality of the match.
The drummer for them was shite as well.No rhythm at all.
Bored stiff but I think City's main concern/tactic was, don't get any more defenders injured.

3 Sporting fans wearing Sporting shirts turned up in my Avenue in deepest Burnage a few hours before the match waiting for my neighbour.

Were your neighbours the Gallagher's back in the day? Were they waving copies of Smash Hits and shouting 'sorted' constantly???

Back to the bad, good, old, days.

First the Rags and now Sporting causing trouble at City. I dread to think whats going to happen when we play the Coach Wreckers in April at the Etihad.

I strongly suspect a weird crowd tonight with absolutely thousands of those studenty foreign types who turn up for Champions League games.

As an aside, given the difficulty in buying tickets for the derby, i was amazed to see a number of those wearing half and half scarves at the derby at the weekend.
We need to ban the sale of those fucking things!

Here we go again...Early leavers....shit atmosphere....blah blah....moan fucking moan...

Was always going to happen last night, watching a glorified training session. I confess to leaving 5 mins early last night to set off on my 120 mile drive home. Sorry for that.

Of more concern to me is the amount of season ticket holders that can't be arsed to even buy a ticket. I knew ONE person in 116 last night, every other fucker was a complete stranger. At least the early non-singing day-tripping leavers bought a ticket and filled the stadium, so fair play to 'em.

I bet half the people complaining about last night are seasoncard holders who watched the game from the sofa.

Go figure.

How do you go about that.
Don’t know. Chelsea managed to do it though, they stopped selling them themselves and banned them from being sold around the stadium from independents n’all.

I have to say, personally I thought the majority of Sporting fans were brilliant (apart from the group at the front of the first tier who just wanted to fight and a couple of other idiots spread about). 5-0 down and sang the whole way through.
We were just to the right of them on the second tier, there was one fan in particular who kept waving a Chelsea scarf and kept shouting 'Champions of Europe, you'll never sing that' idiot.
Also, a couple of rows behind us were a group of Sporting fans in the home end. I guess this is what happens when it goes on general sale.

From my seat in 105 on Wednesday night I could see a load of people bouncing around in the concourse at the back of SSL1. Only for them to come out and make no noise at all until Scott Carson came on… get to your fucking seats and build some atmosphere in the ground, lads. Concourse singing is the biggest waste of fucking time going.

If you sing those songs in the stands it might spread around a bit before the game and get the rest of the ground up for it. Doing it in the concourse serves no purpose at all, plus it ruins the pre-match displays when there are chunks of empty areas in SSL1
(like for the derby on Sunday):

Does everything have to serve a purpose ?

Young lads have an absolute party on the concourse because it’s fun. That’s what life’s about, not placating old moaners who have a bee in their bonnet about pre match displays being “ruined” (wtf) by a handful of empty seats.

Leave em to their fun while you get to your seat an hour before kick off to wave your rattle and have a moan about the music on the PA system or the early leavers or the wrong songs being sung or whatever
