The comparision shot of before and after from http://www.pattern-architects.com/project/etihad-stadium-expansion/?gallery is interesting (click to enlarge):

Not sure i like the proposed new one. Love what the expansion videos look like and love all the spiral lights etc.

Ignore the cladding - the key is understanding the tie in of the upper tier as one bowl. This will happen and make our stadium circa 78.000. It has been designed with this in mind.

The cladding looks far better than the stained concrete.

The big plus is all the blue lights are on;.)

Today has been an amazingly historic day for the club, this really is only the beginning.

I can't wait to see what the next phase has in store...

also the architect design is amazing, what a find! does mean they are definatly thinking long term

Have click on an architects website called "pattern" - click on Etihad expansion and have a look at picture 2 which shows how the cladding line on the East and West stands will eventually come half way through the spirals. Interesting.

Here you go:

Probably a cunning plan by the owners who appear to know what they are doing

78,000 would be nice. Anything over 75,635 would be simply massive.

When I have more time later - I will tell you the story of why the seats are the colour they are. The seats are an official colour - Known as Kippax Blue. The colour was chosen the night we played Ipswich and it got rained off.[/quote]

Thanks, I'd be interested to hear that (always interested in little tidbits like this)!
