Don't know if anyone else noticed in the Our New Home information pack, but the renders give a clear indication of how the roof and section near the LCD screens will look. You can compare them to the pictures I took last week of the steel roof sections and supports being lifted into place

Is the corner section metalwork ^ (looks shittier than the oversized metalwork over pinning the roof/new road) permanent or something to infill whilst the CB stand is extended

I like it - looks decent enough and lots of landscaping. At the end of the day they are rental properties so they were never going to be elaborate, luxury buildings - it would be money down the drain to do that. It's got to be a building with fairly low maintenance costs which doesn't cost an arm and a leg to build. I like that they've angled one of the blocks just to give it a bit more on the aesthetic side rather than three identical oriented blocks.

Yes, looks a lot shittier than the earlier renders. It looks like (although I know this is not the case) they didn't manage to get the new roof and the old one to line up properly and so had to bodge it.

The camera angle is not a flattering one there, but if the camera was moved to say the center circle, I think the 'dip' wouldn't look as bad. It's evidently not a smooth curve, but think it'll look fine from a less acute angle.

I think the perspective doesn't help - from a more central angle I'm sure it looks better. I know what you mean though, and it was always going to be tricky to provide something that neatly connected to the other stand yet was performing a structural duty. I'm sure that it could be tidied up (at a cost!!!) if the side stand was to be re-developed, depending on what the roofing proposals were to be in that case. It may be that they square it off slightly as opposed to maintaining this curve that we currently see. That's how I imagine one day the Etihad will look - a more squared ground akin to the old and traditional football stadia design as opposed to the curved "bowl" that modern design has encouraged.

Maybe it does give a feel about the "look" but there are inaccuracies in it - certainly as regarding the seating.

The block to the left of the screen must be new 318. On the 3d planner there is only a thin strip of seats to the right of the gangway. In the image it isn't a thin strip.

I'm sure the sightline to the pitch is fine but it looks as though the seats to the right of the screen (must be Colin Bell block 322) have a restricted view behind it. That screen looks monster size - is it bigger than the ones at the Family Stand end now?

An architecturally disappointing start to City Life, in my opinion.

The once exciting New Islington proposal has now been brought down to earth with a bang!

Link to the design and access statement is below the renders.

I can't open it, have they scrapped the rest of the plans?
It's really slow and clunky in Chrome at least, save it and then open in Windows 8.1 built in PDF reader, it's much smoother.

Those should fit in well with the others JRB....

.. grim isn't it?!

Whist on Maps I didn't realise how much land was behind the Ancoats retail park. Think in the distance is the gasometers(left hand one the North Car Park one?)
