Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Buried in the SSC thread are a couple of piccies I produced showing, based on what was in the published document (though as we now now not what was actually delivered for the South Stand and what will be probably delivered for the North Stand) what the Sides would look like and what the (disappointingly) likely capacity would end up at

The sums...

These are based on additional 16 rows being added to theback of the East/West Stands - which matches these renders of a four stand extended Etihad that surfaced at the end of last year

I think the disagreements between ITK's here is probably down to the fact that one person has all the knowledge about the as-built (or nearly built) stand and the other has "future-plan" knowledge - as has been said, any movement of big screens within the stadium this year will be telling...

I didn't realise that the new SS roof is see-through until I saw that photo a few pages back with the existing roof removed. Now I've seen that render again of the East and West expansion, I've noticed the proposed North Stand expansion would not have the same roof. Assuming this is due to the requirement for sun on the grass. And it generally is SW direction.

If you asked me for a wow factor, it would be for the West Stand to be expanded, not for capacity but for a structure that goes from the exisiting roof all the way across that collar site to the roadside.

It's going to take ages to shuffle along the rows into the middle of the stand cos there's no aisle entrances in the middle. But at least there will be a few more seats where they are now ;)

I would have thought the East stand would naturally be done with the collar site. I have an image in my head of the east stand fused to the side of a very posh hotel with a level of corporate not yet seen at any stadium in the world. I remember the questionnaire showing some proposals with leather fucking armchairs so expect something out of this world when it does happen.

This thread has been fantastic from day one and I'm sure it has a few more years to run!

That picture at the bottom is a brilliant design. In all honesty, I can't see us selling out an 80k stadium within 10 years. Since we've left Maine road, we've grown hugely and done well with average attendances at etihad for the past 13 years. But unless ticket prices drop to bundesliga ticket rates, we've got no chance of reaching anywhere near 80 thousand seats.

With ffp nearly buried and out turnover at a high, maybe ticket prices will be going down. What a time to be a city fan, id love to see the campus 10 years into the future.

Still a nice "council house" though.

Even better than MK Dons stadium where it is possible to watch a game whilst lay in the bed in your hotel room... with possibly a young lady under the covers with her mou.... err... moving swiftly on...

New home for Manchester Phoenix

Stormie, SSC.

Basically nothing concrete has really come out of the meeting.

There was a hint its at sportscity. Negiotations about where they will be playing will be finalised within 4 weeks for a 3000 seat arena with 30 days to build. It is "80% likely" it will be ready for the new season. If they don't have it open for September they will start at Deeside and have also stated where they start the season they will finish at. They touted Ice Sheffield too but imo this wouldn't have happened and Phoenix swinged it so it looked like the fans made the choice.

I've questioned about planning permission which looks to me like it will take at least 8 weeks, nobody has been able to answer that. I'd get there might be be a planning permission already existing that has been approved and amended, but I've had a look on the planning portal and there sure ain't any for Sportscity. Anyone got any ideas?

He said: “People talk about this club being a family, and it’s true. Seeing so many people here tonight was wonderful and we’ll all defend this club from the top to the bottom. I wouldn’t have stayed here all these years, and put so much effort in, if it wasn’t for the fans. It is so exciting when you think how the new arena will help to put this club on the map in Manchester. It can be hard when we’ve got the world’s richest football club just around the corner, but it just means we have to work hard. The people here are good, loyal and love the Phoenix. That is why we want to protect this club for them http://www.manchesterphoenix.co.uk/news/2632/phoenix-fans-give-owner-neil-morris-huge-vote-approval

It looks like a care home. What are those curtains about?
