Re: Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Threa

Does anybody know what the final finish will be once both ends of the expansion are completed?

If there's one (relatively minor) gripe about the stadium, it's the plain / drab concrete being so exposed.

Arguably, it needs to be rendered with something classy... wood effect / glass (or something!) just to get rid of the grey.
It could also do with some sexy lighting too.

Obviously the entrances on the CB and East Stand look great, but the rest of the ground needs a bit of sorting out.

Am I alone in this thinking, or is everybody happy with how the stadium looks now?

I chose those entrances!

I wish we'd fill those corners in. When the North Stand is done and capacity is 65k but we still sell out for big games then it will look silly that we didn't fill in the corners when we had the opportunity to do it. Just feel it's a big chance lost.

would look even more silly if we end up with no pitch... they need the holes to help the grass grow ;)

I believe the corners add a lot of benefit to the pitch... helping air to circulate.
I'm not sure that's the ultimate factor, but it's possibly one of them.

There may be some structural reasons they can't be filled in too (or the cost/benefit is poor). I'm sure an 'in the know' architect might be able to shed some light on that.
I agree in principle, the corners filled in would be great, but then the screens would have to be relocated in some way, or lost. I could like without them though.

It's not stopped the grass growing at Wembley or The Emirates. Besides, it pisses it down in Manchester - grass'll grow anywhere! :)

We don't have the FA or Wenger blowing hot air over it all week though.

Pretty sure I've seen some artists impressions of the finished stadium with basically a wrap round when its all finished. On a thread on here ?

Corners are being done, sort of.

They're adding an extra block to the end of the East and CB third tiers and then the big screens will cover the rest of the gap. Won't look anywhere near as open as you're thinking.
