The land bounded by Alan Turing way / Ashton new Rd is owned by the council. The land you are talking about is referred to as 'the collar site'. See section 4 and annexe 2 of the article below.
It is leased by a joint venture company and has to be developed within 15 years.

Yes the plans including a casino were rejected by the government a few years ago now.

The land on which the academy is built is ultimately owned by the clubs owners. The land for the community college was also owned by the club owners but we gave it to them / the community.

Check the rest of this thread for 'collar site' as there are more informed people than me on here.

When you say plans for a casino and hotel where rejected are you talking of the original super casino plans or plans by the club as the rag was talking about because I have seen the super casino get rejected but nothing by the club and people on here have stated that City wont want a Casino not family friendly.

So aside from the land on which the academy is on is any of the land owned by the club does not sound like it so how will we benefit ?

They were talking about the Super Casino which was thrown out. The expected outcome for the collar site will be at least a top hotel with possibly a small on-site casino plus god knows what else.

This is from the pdf linked earlier:

4.3 The Manchester City Football Academy proposals have the potential to radically change the market position of the site, raise the profile of the Etihad Campus and increase investor confidence thereby stimulating development on other undeveloped areas around the Etihad Stadium. Disposing of the Stadium Eastern Collar Side into the “JV” Development Company Limited will enable MCFC’s commercial aspirations to become a driver for the future development of the site and enable MCFC’s, the City Council’s and NEM’s wider ambitions of securing improved social, economic and environmental outcomes for East Manchester to be delivered. Work is now underway to evaluate future options for the commercial development of this site in a manner that is consistent with the developing plans of the Club in terms of football facilities. The outcomes of this work will be brought to a future meeting of the Executive.

4.4 The proposed disposal will be by way of a circa 250 year lease. The ”JV” Development Company Limited will develop the land in accordance with the Commercial Plan but if less than 25% of the Collar Site has been redeveloped within 15 years of the grant of the lease the Council will have the right to take the lease back from the ”JV” Development Company Limited at market value.

Anything that City/CFG/ADUG build on it will count towards FFP. (unless someone knows better? More than likely ;) )

I used to work on Pollard Street East about 3 years back - a stones throw from the stadium - and had some work done on my car at a garage just round the corner. I was chatting to the garage owner who said that you wouldn't believe how much land City had been quietly acquiring in the area.

Any news on the development of the North Stand? When the South was developed we heard in December of the previous year with early works starting February/March.

all gone quiet on this thread, has it all been shelved or something?
north stand, collar site, asda etc

Since there are 2016 summer concerts then I would guess that there are no plans to proceed with the North Stand at the moment I guess its just be patient No other news on other related developments

Asda is sub letting a part of their store so no chance we are buying it http://pa.manchester.gov.uk/online-...ils.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=NZ6OWPBC6K000

No one at the club will comment on North Stand expansion, the concerts don't definitely mean no start date this year, but I would expect changes to original planning consent would be required and council website still has no news, so my guess is they are waiting for tickets to sell out more often without having to give large areas away on the cheap
