Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

I was certainly not saying we have progressed merely that the volume of people who got themselves to Maine Road for exactly the same time seemed to do so without too much trouble.
Times have changed and perhaps we demand a lot more than just to watch the game these days.

Roads were at best double lane but around the ground single lane only and buses were mainly used for anything above walking distance. Surely we still walk from our parking spots today don´t we ?

Have been told by a reliable source within the club that the North Stand extension will begin during the coming season, the club would not have been granted planning permission if the current transport network couldn't cope with the extra fans. Much more likely that the club were waiting to see if the South Stand extension was filled on a regular basis, with the season cards selling out in record time the club have probably decided to go ahead and build, also still about 4K still on the waiting list so I understand; with the majority waiting for the cheaper £299 and £380 seats in the that will then be available .

That's really good info mate and very encouraging news. I think we probably got the original planning permission on the back of the trams finally arriving at The Etihad, albeit a bit late for The Commonwealth Games! Where I think we will struggle is getting permission to expand the side stands and go to 75-80,000 with the current transport links. I've been reading up on Arsenal and apparently they would like to go to 80,000 but have similar issues.

I promise not to post again in this thread on this issue!

Point taken fbloke, I suppose the absence of construction news gets us searching for reasons why progress has not yet happened.
Its pretty frustrating but I think we're going to have to get used to that -I did hear a whisper that we would get news in the autumn at least for part of the stadium/collar site.

Berties can't do that

Good point on the side stand developments, think that might be another 3 or 4 premier leagues and a couple of champion leagues away mate.

How many will be seated with the new North stand?

Hopefully with safe standing coming that would then boost up the numbers and we can beat Dortmund.

I think we might get a few more in the North Stand if the "no new premium offer" rumours are confirmed - a little less segregation in the middle of the second tier and no away segregation in the new 3rd tier - but the 62,000 everyone was looking for could be tough as they got less seats in down the front than they were expecting

Anyone estimate the different capacities based on a replica of South Stand extension, and Mancityx's 2nd tier expansion? If there were a significant number of extra seats with the one tier, I'd go with that otherwise keep the symmetry.

We added a few hundred seats to Southern ends of WL3 and EL3 when South Stand was done, presumably we'd do the same again, so 6,300 on top of 54,700 if we went for a duplicate of South stand end = 61k. Do a WHU. make more seasoncards available at £300 to £400 and it will be full houses every week in the League at least.

Slightly of topic but just seen the latest pictures of Liverpools new extension, what a f----ing mess, side bits hanging over the ends of the lower Kop and Anfield Road stands, some sort of square support beam across the top of the stand. Has no simetary any of the other stands, reminds me of Maine Road at the end the towering Kippax stand and other odd constructions making up the rest of the stands. Makes me appreciate our new stand and the Etihad as a whole.

That design looks like potentially a game changer.

I don't think it will affect the decision on when and how we extend the North Stand but 15 years from now it might raise the question of whether to extend the side stands and infill the corners or simply build a brand new stadium?

Spurs and Chelsea could find themselves moving into new but already obsolete stadiums. Now wouldn't that be funny?

What's the point in those widened staircases for concerts if the entrance to the concourse at the top of the stairs is the same width?

The "wall" at the top of the stairs (that backs onto where everyone stands boozing) had been took out at some entrances at the start of the season and changed into a metal wall that can be opened, to create a larger entrance for concerts. There's one like that in the east stand anyway, i presume the wide entrances on that pic above in the south stand also had it done.

Yes it was a wide entrance from the South Stand Level one for the Bruce Springsteen concert.

I'd rather have a kop end than a stand similar to the away end at chelseas ground
