And that is precisely why there will be no announcement for the foreseeable future. They have to let us know because any proposed building work/timescale has to be given to us locals before they even go to the council for them to give the go-ahead. We are informed about everything local, and at the start of every meeting City usually start with.... now lets get the City buying ASDA nonsense out of the way first.... !!! I'm not a normal poster on here, usually just read stuff, but sometimes the misinformation is very difficult to listen to. City are amazing to us at the meetings, they have taken us on tours of local businesses, the college and the new medical place next to the Academy and they go out of their way to keep us up to date.

You clearly don't know our attendances last season.
I don't ? It has nothing to do with me, the hierarchy have stipulated that's what THEY want to see over a couple of seasons, like I said when I broke the news on here that the expansion had been shelved and some said I was talking shit, I know our attendances as you do because I go to them all at home but it's not mine or your decision.

Personally not bothered if they start the extension end of the season coming or in the next, what I don't agree on is this waiting to see if we sell out crap, when city attendances have improved year on year and if or when we do extend the Attendances wont go down they will go up, plus we will sell out the majority of those games.

City will definitely extend the North Stand, and as soon as possible IMO, as we will not want to be left behind by West Ham, Spurs and Chelsea attendance wise. Coupled with the fact that Pep will arrive. It's all going to be very exciting!

What I should have said more clearly was .... there are no plans to make any announcements for commencement of work this year........ Yes I know plans have been drawn but there is no intention to build for some considerable time, this was told to us (a room full of local people and business people, and a lady from Manchester City Council on 17th May).
If you take that literally, that is meaningless. Decisions can be made.

When you went to a meeting , if there were plans they wouldn't be announced there they would be announced when the club is ready. Or there wasn't a plan, with a go ahead date at that time, but with planning permission in place that plan to go ahead could easily have been made in the last week or so.
Either way what was said at a public meeting is neither her nor there.
From what Worleyweb is saying then these plans seem to have been kickstarted, he could be wrong but I can't see why the club would delay when it would take this season and next to be open. Plus it seems they need to do this to proceed with any collar site development. Why would they delay?

Whether the North stand expansion is going ahead or not is anyone's guess. However, I would think the North stand expansion is different to the South stand expansion, in the sense that it doesn't impact on home owners close by. Even if City haven't confirmed the North stand expansion yet with the local community, they may have already decided to go ahead with it. Long before the local community are consulated and told about it, the process of starting the expansion outside of construction will have begun. Meetings, tenders, etc. Those on here who work in the construction industry will know much more about it than I do. It takes many months of negotiations and tenders before the first signs of work begin and all affected parties are notified. But yes, as a club, City do a great job of keeping the local community informed about proposals and construction work in and around the stadium.

I know now't but piecing together what the local community has been told and the whispers within the trade it appears likely that any announcement will be made early next year with a view to commencing work in the Spring. We've now got 2 years season ticket sales in since we last expanded (selling out with record numbers) and know how many are left on the Waiting List. The club can gauge match day demand and monitor how fast the Waiting List grows over the rest of this year. It's extremely unlikely but things could go pear shaped on the pitch which would obviously adversely affect demand. There really is little point in formally announcing and therefore committing ourselves currently. An announcement in say February 2017 makes more sense.

There absolutely are plans for the North stand and planning permission. And I can't see one single reason not to start work very soon. We'll see.

Planning permissible was passed in2014 for the extention to both South and North Stands this last for 4 years so City can begin to build the North Stand whenever they like, consultation with the residents is simple a courtesy not a necessity. As I posted earlier this week a reliable source within the club has told me work will commence later this year. Worsleyweb also had info that the this will commence with the relocation of the Club Store. To explained further the fact season tickets sold out in record time for next season the average attendance of 54k last season and 4K still on waiting list the club are confident a further extention of 6k will sell out for most games.

If they start early next year then by the time the stand is completed we will have already played 3 seasons under the current expansion.

After last season, the next two will be more than enough to build up demand especially if we progress on the field as much as we all expect.

Along with the quick season ticket sell outs, the most telling sign for me is that we always fill the away team third tier when the opposition don't take up the full allocation.

I actually think we'd fill it for league games if it were finished in 2017 rather than 2018 but it's the cup games where we're still playing catchup in terms of attendance.

Right that's me done posting for probably another year or so. Thank you and goodnight.

I appreciate you are probably more in the know than certainly me but I wonder if the people that you meet from City are fully in the know themselves ?

Perhaps City are different but do they really divulge their complete plans for the future to you and your neighbours or are they like all business people and reserve the right to change their minds dependent on changing circumstances ?

I am unable to understand why your comments re fbloke are merited. Despite your comments I have found his vision for the future stimulating and surprisingly accurate.

Following on from the above post, I too found it sad that a personal dig appeared in possibly the most interesting and exciting threads on here.

Just heard that take that are doing 10 concerts at the etihad next summer dont know how that will tie in with any north extension.
