Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

You are spot on"Welcome To Manchester" has a new meaning, you have to walk to our stadium but we will give you a fancy light show on a walkway.

If you drive you have to wait 2 hours to exit the car park but you can leave the ground earlier as most fans do.

Here is the answer in this video to service the stadium by train also backed up by the tram and buses.

The trains don't need to run all the time just when concerts or games are on.

But City wants you to hang around the stadium after the game but what there? Maybe something in the future but we can't tell you.

Fine ,except the quickest, most efficient way to move people away from the campus, isn't trains or trams or monorails. It's getting as many people as they can waliking the 25 minutes into the centre of Manchester,or Piccadilly Station, and making that walk as pleasant as possible is money well invested.

Exactly !! New train stations is pie in the sky fantasy.

More chance of a zip wire from the back of the North Stand Skybar all the way to Picadilly than there is of hundreds of millions invested in new train stations !

To be used for a couple of hours maybe 30 times a year. People will talk about the arena but pretty sure while the trams /buses struggle with 60,000 for football they will be adequate for 20,000 at the arena.Doubt there will be many arena football clashes, the arena will avoid Tuesdays / Wednesdays during the season.

Doubt it. Concerts/events are booked years in advance and UEFA are increasing the number of Champions League dates. Plus the Premier League will alter matches at the drop of a hat so their will be many, many clashes of the two arenas.

Not if they avoid Tuesday Wednesday nights, Sep-Dec and Feb -May. Arenas aren't 365 night a year venues, so those 52 nights are easily avoided. There will be clashes but not a lot.

The new Cheadle station is 8m, An Etihad campus platform would be a half that, a very basic build used very occasionally by a large volume of people

You sound like an expert on the matter. It would be interesting to know your qualifications on urban transport planning and rail infrastructure design.

Piccadilly/Victoria to the proposed Etihad campus station
So by the time you've, walked to the station, queued waited for the train got to Piccadilly you've at best saved 10 minutes on walking to Piccadilly. Even to do that yould probably have to leave 10 minutes before the whistle.

In your humble opinion
Well firstly, good luck in trying to run a train that needs to cut across all the lines that enter the throat of Manchester's main rail station, especially every 6 minutes as you suggested. You wouldn't even get anything through the Castlefield corridor anyway.
