I'd be grateful if anyone can suggest a decent chippy in London, because I've never found one.

No 1 has ever. I love having chip supper when i come to Manchester. Its not just London either its the whole of the south

There are a few good chippies in London, yes they lack Gravy and Hollands Pies, but some gaffs do fish as good as anywhere.

Masters SuperFish in Wasterloo is old school, and quality, plus reasonably priced, at least for London

Nautilus in West Hampstead was awesome, but change of ownership has sent it down hill a little.

Olivers a new sit down gaff (but does takeaway)next to the Steeles pub in Chalk farm/Belsize park is brilliant, ok it's about a £10 for a sit down, but relatively speaking well worth it before or during a Steeles session.

For anyone doing Kilburn High Road before or after Wembley then i can recommend the Chips from the imaginatively named Alex's Plaice, they do mushy peas and gravy too, can't have the fish mind. Just a stones throw from a couple of good boozers too

Couple of good ones I know.

Cheap and cheerful - The Laughing Halibut in Strutton Ground, Westminster. Seen Peter Mandelson in there picking up some chips on the way home.

More upmarket - The Seafresh on Wilton Road just down from Victoria.

Both eat-in or take-away
i have been inboth of those and they're good but watch out for the £15 fish and chips though!
