I'm happy with them selecting a UK ref but they got the wrong one. The Scottish ref would be a better choice.

Only way to make group games more interesting is to award bonus points for goals scored, similar to rugby union competitions with bonus points for a number of tries.
Let's say award a bonus point for 3 goals, a 4-3 win would give 4 pts to winners and 1 to losers.
Would teams go for this? It would have to be checked out for 'what if' scenarios to prevent teams doing one another a favour.

But Spain didn't win their group so ended up where they are.Crap system which has resulted in 2 massively unbalanced halves of the draw.
Italy/Spain's price for a win is Germany in the last 8 round whilst Wales/Ireland gets to play Hungary/Belgium winner...
The best teams will not make it into the semis.

Why would they have a preference?Hopefully the Swiss I got them in the work sweepstake. What the fuck is a UK referee doing refereeing the Wales/NI game? They're guaranteed to have some preference one way or the other.

To me it's akin to getting a Polish ref to officiate Ukraine v Russia.

The top half of that draw has some piss poor teams in it.
It could've been WORSE, if England had topped the group ;-)
