Do we need to submit a new squad for the Europa League? And if so how do we balance the need to rest the senior players, and still field a strong team if we reach the final or are drawn against United? Do we have the scope to include players like Onohua, Hargreaves & Bridge in the squad or are we dependent on youngsters like Suarez to make up the numbers?

As far as I am aware we submit a new 25 man squad at the end of Jan when the window closes.

the starting XI will be just the same as the carling cup team, maybe put out a better team should we get to the Quaters Semis etc

I think we are stuck with a maximum of three changes, so most of the squad has to stay the same and the likes of Rekik, Razak and Suarez will remain on the sidelines. The Under 21 rule isn't the same as the PL and they have to be club trained for longer.

That sounds quite worrying. If I remember rightly our "B" list players weren't particularly strong. Doesnt it mean that we'll have to field some of our "regulars" and at least include a few on the bench? So Dzeko is likely to be a regular, with Aguero or Balotelliu on the bench? And players such as AJ, Nasri, De Jong, Barry will be needed to make up the midfield?

Either that or drop some of the better players to include Razak, Suarez & Rekik?

uefa official guidelines said:
Conditions for registration: List B

Each club is entitled to register an unlimited number of players on List B during the season. The list must be submitted by no later than 24.00 CET on the day before the match in question.

A player may be registered on List B if he is born on or after 1 January 1990 and has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years since his 15th birthday by the time he is registered with UEFA. Players aged 16 may be registered on List B if they have been registered with the participating club for the previous two years without interruption.

Some of our youngsters will qualify through this but Suarez and Rekik don't.
