Europa League

Better European away days, cheaper tickets, good enough to win it and no champions league anthem. What's not to like?
 
If its to be Europa League so be it. We are in a period of transition but aside from the financial aspect a year out of the Champions League would give the new management time to bed in new players and promote promising youngsters without the pressure of the CL.

Not that this should matter, but……….

At the moment, we’ve only qualified as the League Cup Winners, and this team enters the Europa League in the Third Qualifying Round (28th July/4th August)


Obviously if we beat Arsenal and Swansea then we’ll come at least 3rd.
However, if we lose to Arsenal and Swansea, with United finishing 4th, and West Ham 5th.


West Ham 5th, and Palace (regardless of the Wembley result) would enter the group stages.

City would be playing football in July.

Would they? Too busy scaring Europe to death to notice the change in rules?
 
At least its winnable for this side unlike the CL

Who would have though there would be a thread like this after the first five games. What a disgrace the manager and the players have been this season.

I missed the rule change about what happens if Palace lose at Wembley, but currently, City have only qualified for the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League, and in a worst case scenario, this could easily happen.
 
I am not convinced we would compete if we end up in the Europa League, as it is likely to have an impact on league performances and getting back in the Champs League. Think we might see weaker sides unless the club prioritise it which in my mind would be a mistake. Absolutely great that Pep would then only have 2 chances of winning it and not 3. Cannot believe the board have let it come down to this. There are serious questions to be asked internally.

Tbf it's been a shambles the past couple of years, let's hope we scrape through and they get it right in the future.

He also states that if we don't get top four it will be a disaster. He has finally woken up to the fact that for weeks now we have been heading for this nightmare scenario. Many on here could see what was unfolding, why couldn't he. ? Game after game he made incorrect decisions, with the ultimate being staying loyal to his pedestrian friend Demi against the Utd speed merchants. He has defined his own potential legacy here - a disaster.

Whilst I don't disagree the board must also take a lot of responsibility for where we find ourselves. Serious questions should be asked about transfers and the way in which this season has been allowed to unravel. If we don't make the Champs League you telling me Pep is going to be happy? Love to be a fly on the wall if we end up in the Europa League when they next meet him.

Yes, that's true. Txiki must be now questioning his decision to bring in Pelle and the transfer decisions that followed.
 
I never minded the Europa League. It was different, the opposition fans were better than what you get in the Champions League, different trips to more chilled out places. But I really don't want to be playing Sunday games. I love my Saturday piss ups going to City that last until Sunday morning, I live for them in fact! and don't want a load of Sunday games next season where I can't do that.

For that reason more than any other I really REALLY want to be in the CL next season. Not because we'll be in the CL, but because our Prem games will be on Saturdays more often than not with the odd Friday nights thrown in.
