European Super League | ECJ rule that UEFA and FIFA acted unlawfully in blocking Super League (p 29)

14 group stage games with European travel included isn't exactly a good idea.

We played around 60 games last season and we all saw the effect it had on some, Rodri especially.

I wouldn't be shocked if anyone joining this forfeited their spot in domestic cup competitions.

That being said, it's hard to say it's bad for football when UEFA and FIFA are expanding the UCL and CWC in the same manner. Players are cattle to these people at the end of it.

It's just people in suits wanting more.

Of course Barcelona and Laporte have they are in deep shit financially with levers galore!

Real Madrid putting one out saying ‘European football is not and cannot be a monopoly’. What have they been up to for decades making sure that everything runs in their favour.

I think what the ESL needs is a Saudi style LIV backer pumping billions into it. They will need to attract PL clubs and others who will jump ship because of the huge sums on offer. Then, and only then, might there be some sort of compromise as with golf. A halfway house of staying in the PL but also being in a ESL isn't initially feasible.

It's not about being against it. Legally it's impossible for English clubs to join.

The sporting merit bit is questionable though, if Real Madrid fall off a cliff, how do we know they won't be invited...we don't.
How?

didnt we even get some financial punishment alongside other clubs. withholding some revneue or some similar shit.
and I remember many clubs accepted this except Barca, Juve, Real, who for this reason did not get same punishment.

True but it feels like the money for the ESL would have to massively outweigh the PL + UEFA money.

The proposed regulation will probably be the biggest challenge, the government could make it more difficult to join. Again not sure how far they can go with Regulation, they could go the whole hog.a
The money from a new ESL would be staggering. The clubs would own all the broadcast revenues instead of paying third parties like SKY. The whole UEFA political empire would not exist. The key thing will be how the cash is shared out between the clubs and how many games would be free to air and how many pay-per-view etc.

Champions League has a weight to it. Look at Haaland’s comments about it, other players choose it over domestic success and clubs strive to win it.

They’re going to decide against playing in that and instead opt into a contrived, soulless marketing campaign?

No Prem club will touch it with a barge pole after the reaction last time and rightly so. Given clubs like Barca and Real have two motives for it - raising money and bridging the gap - then losing the ability to do the latter if English clubs don’t join just nullifies the whole thing. Fortunately.
