Everton (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Thanks Doku for that goal, keeps us in it, on we go, fight till the end. Who walked out before the end? Don’t give Sky any excuses!

I doubt that whether you'd find many city fans who didn't honestly think that game was over at 3-1, and with Everton in the ascendency, and us, at that point, lookin' like we had no answers ....

Underwhelming

I’d heard great things about it but off the TV my first impression was that I couldn’t see what the fuss was all about

After finally seeing it in the flesh my first impression was correct

Well apparently they got over 52,000 last night, so that can only help Everton .... it didn't look like a bad pitch, or ground to me, but only saw it via a screen.

We scored 3 great goals away from home. Giving away 3 goals like we did though - doesn't matter whether you're home or away - you're lucky to come away with a point. Shame for Guehi as he looked so reliable since he came in, but, that's pressure for you. Rodri was a big miss last night and imho Cherki's magic was missing. Thought Foden looked better than he has been of late when he came on.

Hopefully we can put in a solid performance against Brentford, get the points and add a bit of extra pressure on to Arsenal at the weekend, but if they survive tonight unscathed against Athletico Madrid and go on to take the points at West Ham, it looks like "game over", in which case, hats off to them for getting it over the line at long last.

I think we need to see the very successful 4321 (433) formation more often, 424 doesn't need to be spammed all the time (but I don't blame Pep for using it if it wins games).

Get both Doku and Cherki as wingers who go wide and inside at will.

We need to use the fullbacks more (Nunes is slightly neutered as a 3rd CB).

Get a 3rd midfielder like Foden/Reijnders (maybe Kova) deeper and central to allow the fullbacks that freedom.

I'm not sure playing Semenyo every time is the key.
Tbh the problem tonight was individually too many players were poor. We aren't where we need to be yet and a lot of the new guys are not experienced in the slog of winning a title.
Let's just get it right for that cup final. I want to see Bernie lifting that trophy for his last game.

I can’t wrap my head around people being comfortable with games and performances like tonight just because we didn’t ’expect’ to be in this position during a rebuild.
Yep - it's like winning a car, but not being upset when it's stolen the next day.

I felt similar after the Burnley game but the situation now is obviously far more critical, not only because of the game-changing dropped points but also because Arsenal have avoided two potential banana skins in the meantime.

Still possible, but unlikely. We'll need to really thrash somebody, too.

After the disappointment of last night here's a reminder of how bad we used to be both on and off the field. I remember that dickhead with the radio i used to see him a lot at Maine Road. Was he ever seen again after this lol?
