But wouldn't you hate it if we started calling ourselves the "people's club? It is almost as excruciating as clubs who play some ridiculous ditty or other after each goal they score.
God's own club is as bad.

What does it matter when we're "City! City!, the best team in the land and all the world!"?

Just as bad but thankful, I haven't heard the phrase much, except from Curly fucking Watts.

It was a comment made by David Moyes when he was appointed as our manager as someone else said, Basically saying we are the 'working class' club of Liverpool. I'm more curious as to why it is at all relevant on a Man City Forum?

It came from David Moyes unveilling as manager where he said he thought Everton was the people's club of Liverpool. Kind of like how people say we are Manchester's working class club.

I hadn't realised it went as far back as that. I don't remember hearing the phrase until last season's cup final. I'm sure they're saying it more than they used to.

It is still used by the fans as a sort of pop at Kopites. It isn't used so much by the club anymore though, I think a local company got it copyrighted.

The same could be said about you.

Fair enough, but I rarely start my own threads and when I do they are related in some way to City, I was just wondering why such a random thing was brought up.
