Everton (FA Cup) Post Match Thread

It was a strange team selection. Why he didn’t start with KDB, Mahrez & Cancelo I don’t know. You should always play your best team, & we were much better when the subs came on. He can’t use the excuse of resting them, when we don’t even play for two weeks!
"You should always play your best team"
Klopp is an disciple of that, look what has happens with them this season
I would suggest that, due to depth of strength of our squad there are numerous permutations that can be determined as our best team

"we don't play for two weeks"
Most of the players are going travelling and playing up to 3 games that's why he gave them a break and he doesn't need to make "excuses" his track record on using his squad is without question

Physically he is vastly different too,his build, stature, and strength are unrecognisable to the player of 12 months ago.
He has developed into a fantastic athlete as well as a ludicrously incredible football talent.

And....he's one of our own!
Phil Foden.
Those who criticised Pep for 'holding him back' were wrong imo.
The slightness of his frame was an important issue and was addressed, I believe, with extra strength training. He also had specialist sprint training. As a teenager, he could not be superman and play all the games as well. As you say, 'a fantastic athlete' has emerged. Pep got it spot on. Patience is a virtue.

Was surprised to read this:

  • Everton have lost their past seven meetings with Manchester City in all competitions, their longest losing run against an opponent since a run of nine v Manchester United between 1999 and 2004.
Thought they’d had our number, but I guess the seasons are clocking by quicker than I can keep up!

Not really doing much harm when theres a thread asking how many trophies we'll win this season. Talk about giving your enemy bullets, loading the gun and pointing at your own head
What are you loading the gun with if you've already given your enemy the bullets?

They've not really had our number since MP came in and Moyes went to the rags, we've played 18 times since in all comps and won 12, drawn 4 and lost 2. I think we just struggled with Moyes' Everton side although we've not struggled with any side he's had since.

Must just be PTSD from the old “Typical City” days, but that 4-0 spanking at their place when Pep looked either shell shocked or disinterested still feels a tad closer than MP.

Just a fluke while we got accustomed to Guardiola's system, we were always going to have a few of them. We always will have that in our locker just as his Barca and Bayern sides did as the style requires defending as a team so if 2 or 3 players stop doing their jobs at the same time it's fucked.

At long last it’s great to see Zinny getting the praise he deserves. For me he always plays in our best starting line up. He’s so underrated and yet he just keeps us ticking over and moves the ball so well.
abso-fucking-lutely

£1m was it? What a bargain. Still young so will only improve under Pep’s coaching. Imagine what he could be like with another couple of seasons experience.

Im guessing here but makes me wonder about how certain players have reacted to Pep’s ethics. Certainly there were some that were moved on quite quickly and have never gone on further, Sancho aside, bit Zinny, to me, had thought I’m up for this.

nah, scratch all that. We bought him for £500,000,000 with dirty oil money and he was the finished player

£1.7m I think, yet he gets included in the bullshit '2 £50m players in every position' spiel by journalists and rival supporters now without a second thought, which will tell you exactly how good he's been.
Shows what too much Stella can do to the brain. Thought it was £1m plus wages but probably.like you say, the meedjia inflating facts.
