Everton Football Club

He has done and continues to do a great job there, but Everton have spent a fair bit over the years. Okay not compared to the top 4 and they had the Rooney and Lescott money also but they arnt a team built with free signings and cast offs.

But he has done a great job

Moyes is doing something right. He has to work with what he has. They don't play football for 80 minutes, they waste time, plod and bore their way through a game trying their damnedest to keep it 0-0. Then they launch it forward to get a set piece to score from. No skill, no talent, just graft. Not for me but it works for them and let's face it the fans are thick as fuck they'll clap anything.

Just a little, not much, but a wee exaggeration. There are as many EFC fans, I fancy, (could be an exaggeration!) who would like to see the back of Moyes, and there will be many a fan who still remembers the quality of EFC teams from the past. They are going through lean times and they have cut their cloth exceedingly well.

My son is a renegade Toffee - he's far from being thick, and he certainly won't clap anything!

depends what we are talking about here really. the club itself or moyes?
moyes has done well to a point, but has had resources and has not always spent well - bilyaletdinov for one and due to the style of football he enforces he tends to expect too much from the lone striker hence they burn out - bent, beattie, yakubu, saha and jelavic currently. he has never had a striker do consistently well over a number of seasons. attackers should be pressing defenders but moyes has them running all over the pitch.
he will never win a trophy at goodison as he is far too negative at the business end of a cup run.

Bilyaletdinov was a good player it's just that Moyes constantly played him out of position and not to his strengths.

We've seen Jelavic already start to underperform as he's being asked to play upfront on his own. Teams have now figured out that if you stop Jelavic you stop Everton's main goalscoring threat leaving it to see which Fellani decides to turn up.

If you wrote this about 2 years ago I'd have 100% agreed with you. Everton have improved in nearly every aspect over the past 2 years.
I'm not saying the they have suddenly started playing like Barca, but they can mix it up. There tempo has increased and they do have a go at teams alot more than they used to.
To say they just waste time plod and bore their way through games, is a lazy comment in itself.
I saw non of those traites when they came from 4-2 down at the swamp last season!

I know Everton are in the main unliked on here, but I actually admire them, likewise Moyes. Quality manager.
The biggest compliment I can give them is, I hate playing them, home or away you know its going to be really difficult to get anything.

To further make the comment look stupid, we went 18 games consecutively scoring and letting I goals. We also led the way for most attempts on goal in the top 5 European leagues for a while and Baines has created more chances than any other player in Europe.

How do they do it?

David Moyes is a great manager in my eyes. I don't think many would do as well as him.
They should be scrapping for survival really.

You have got to admire them.
Scrapping for survival?! They've got between the fifth and seventh best team in the country and they have had the fifith to seventh best team in the country for pretty much the whole time Moyes has been there. He's NOT working miracles with a shite team, they're a good team and have some very good, even world class, individuals.

What Moyes is good at is building a good team with little money; i'll give him that.

did you see should?, it was there...try you will find it.

they almost went down when Moyes was in charge you really need to check your history before posting. Try looking at 03/04 just to start things off, then when you think you know a little more about it come back and post.

subplot dot com

one of fergies little soldiers, even though his team did come back from 4 2 down, I cannot recall Moyes being delighted with the result!

Anyone else remember Alex McLeish arm round Sir Fungus and beaming smile after his side, the brummies had been stuffed 5 0
And guess who was in line for the Notts Forrest job before McLeish got it, yes it was Darren Ferguson

Somebody is pulling alot of strings like a puppetmaster

i don't see much of a reaction to the anti city revelations below :

A breakaway group of elite clubs are attempting to curb the spending power of Manchester City and Chelsea.

A letter, signed by Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal and published on Arsenal-headed notepaper, was circulated at a Premier League meeting before Christmas.

Addressed to Richard Scudamore, the Premier League chief executive, it called for UEFA’s financial fair play controls to be implemented strictly — a step on from the regulations currently under consideration.
